sundevil777 102 #3 September 29, 2006 At least he resigned without a fight. Barney Frank, now he didn't see any reason to resign. Lower expectations for democrats, perhaps. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

billvon 3,111 #10 September 30, 2006 I swear . . . the republicans are on their way out. Not because the democrats are any better, but over the past few years republicans have become experts in shooting themselves in the foot. It would be nice if we had a choice between two (or more) distinct ideologies. Instead we have a choice between the party of war, torture and corruption, and the party that _would_ be for war and corruption if they were in power. Big government? Both sides want it. Removal of freedoms? Both parties are into that in a big way, they just choose different freedoms that you shouldn't be allowed to have. Republicans, look at it this way. In a few months (or a few years) you'll have someone to blame for the mess in Iraq.

I guess in your world you would have wiretapped your lover in your own home..perhaps in the world of the near future that you seek to create... where your psuedo-morality is legislated......... but in the real world It seems Barney was not guilty of anything. Also, depends which Dem is in office / which Repub is in ofice. It seems the Repubs want to revoke power from the people and hand it to the rich, the Dems revoke some powers from the people for the so-called good of the people, but the power stays with the people somewhat. My memory at the time was that even his political opponents at the time saw the pardon as appropriate. There's a definite professional courtesy mentality amongst politicians. I think they do it for the fact that wishing for the demise of a fellow politician might be used against themselves one day. Andrew Johnson was impeached for usurpation of power, yet the same Congress he usurped power from didn;t remove him, so that really illistrates how these guys cover for each other, evenaccross party lines. Many of the Republican Senators voted against removal of Clinton too. So the fact that contemporaries felt the Nixon deal was fair just reinforces this long-standing unwritten rule amongst politicians.

sfc 1 #24 October 1, 2006 Quote And Foley is a member of the party of hypocrites. Absolutely! Rep. Rodney Alexander (who the page worked for) told Rep. John Shimkus (who runs the page program) about the e-mails about a year ago and they just gave him a reprimand, they obviously care more about the bad image it would give their party than taking this paedophile off the streets. So much for the values they supposedly stand for. These hypocrites are now calling for a criminal investigation, they are so shallow it is sickening.
