Six-term Republican Rep. Mark Foley of Florida resigned from the U.S. Congress on Friday following reports he sent sexually inappropriate e-mails to underage congressional interns...

...Foley was the author of the key sexual predator provisions of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006, which Bush signed in July...

Is it a witch hunt or just another scumbag politician?

Just another hypocrite from the far right.

At least he resigned without a fight.

Barney Frank, now he didn't see any reason to resign. Lower expectations for democrats, perhaps. :D
People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am

Gee.. when you dont have a religious holier than thou attitude....in everything you do.. it keeps the levels of hypocrisy down.

So, there you have it, the party of lower expectations.

Barney Frank admitted a lengthy relationship with a male hooker who ran a bisexual prostitution service out of Frank's apartment. He claimed ignorance of some of the prostitute's activites.

No need to consider resigning from congress, he's a democrat. :D

In Boston they have these hotdogs called Fenway Franks.

When the Barney Frank story came out, there was this joke going around:

What's the difference between Barney Frank and a Fenway Frank?

They come in different buns.

He is a sick pervert trying to seduce young boys, that is way worse than using a hooker. There is no way you can compare the two.

I swear . . . the republicans are on their way out. Not because the democrats are any better, but over the past few years republicans have become experts in shooting themselves in the foot.

It would be nice if we had a choice between two (or more) distinct ideologies. Instead we have a choice between the party of war, torture and corruption, and the party that _would_ be for war and corruption if they were in power. Big government? Both sides want it. Removal of freedoms? Both parties are into that in a big way, they just choose different freedoms that you shouldn't be allowed to have.

Republicans, look at it this way. In a few months (or a few years) you'll have someone to blame for the mess in Iraq.

HUGE difference... Barney is an OUT of the closet gay boy...

Your guys like Foley and the Mayor of Spokane are self loathing right wing... in the closet gay men .. who do everything they can to legislate morality...who cant handle being found out about their little "secret" by the moralistic hypocrites in power.

Even if Barney were straight, and it was his girlfriend instead of boyfriend running the service, he should have resigned.

Or at least the members of his party should have asked him to resign. But no, he is a member of the party of low expectations.

And you rePUBICans....the Party of Morality... remember all the campaigning.. how you were going to return government to righteousness...... not been doing so good on the morality front lately are you... scndal after scandal... but I guess that is all the Democrats fault too huh..

I guess in your world you would have wiretapped your lover in your own home..perhaps in the world of the near future that you seek to create... where your psuedo-morality is legislated......... but in the real world It seems Barney was not guilty of anything.

You virtually defend him. Hey, Nixon resigne w/o a fight, received immunity from Ford..... I guess that wipes all the evil from the face of it, huh?

True to a point, but avsolutley. Also, depends which Dem is in office / which Repub is in ofice.

It seems the Repubs want to revoke power from the people and hand it to the rich, the Dems revoke some powers from the people for the so-called good of the people, but the power stays with the people somewhat.

I don't understand your "virtually defend him" statement.

No, a pardon doesn't "wipe all the evil from it". My memory at the time was that even his political opponents at the time saw the pardon as appropriate.

This resounding claim of the party of lower expectations for democrats.......

1) Lower deficits
2) Lower debt
3) Lower unemployment
4) Lower despise for government
5) lower number of war casualties
6) Lower hate from the world
7) Lower government corruption
8) Lower disparity in classes

Yea, the Dems are the party of lower expectations ;)

There's a definite professional courtesy mentality amongst politicians. I think they do it for the fact that wishing for the demise of a fellow politician might be used against themselves one day.

Andrew Johnson was impeached for usurpation of power, yet the same Congress he usurped power from didn;t remove him, so that really illistrates how these guys cover for each other, evenaccross party lines.

Many of the Republican Senators voted against removal of Clinton too. So the fact that contemporaries felt the Nixon deal was fair just reinforces this long-standing unwritten rule amongst politicians.

And Foley is a member of the party of hypocrites.

Absolutely!

Rep. Rodney Alexander (who the page worked for) told Rep. John Shimkus (who runs the page program) about the e-mails about a year ago and they just gave him a reprimand, they obviously care more about the bad image it would give their party than taking this paedophile off the streets. So much for the values they supposedly stand for.
These hypocrites are now calling for a criminal investigation, they are so shallow it is sickening.

Here's an irony:

Dennis Hastert, the Speaker of the House, was informed of Foley's inappropriate emails/electronic messages about a year ago and took no definitive action.

The top news item on Hastert's website:

Hastert Drives Effort to 'Keep Kids Safe in Cyberspace' (8/29/2006)
