I'm really disappointed. My Dad always told me that I was slower than the second coming of Christ, and it wasn't until I heard the Gospel preached in a Baptist church that I understood what he meant.

If he ain't coming back at all, then, I'm really slow!

I didn't say he wasn't coming back. I said revelation was about 1st century Christians

The Essenes(largely responsible for what exists as Christian dogma today) said, "Three are the dwellings of the sons and daughters of man, Thought, Body, And Feeling.
When the three are one and you say to a mountain move, it will move.

Nah, I'll wait until one or both of the following: 1) a serious effort to rebuild Solomon's Temple, which would involve dropping the ball on that mosque that presently desecrates the site in Jerusalem, and 2.) a requirement thhat we carry embedded micro chips in either our forehead or wrist, without which we cannot buy or sell. Funny thing about the micro chip is that it waould make perfect sense in a cashless economy trying to protect itself from identity theft.

Short of that, forget it. Your world ends no matter if you're killed in the latest war, die of bird flu, or get creamed by a city bus.

.... The Bible is timeless when it comes to the way of life and guidelines that it gives us to live by daily as it was inspired by God (my belief) so it would give anybody who believes or wants to believe hope.. no matter what time it was read .. you should not draw a line to any human theory(written only for those times) :S but rather look at the bigger picture in the Bible - to try and live to be Christ like - helping others , do not judge etc ... the thing is even if your an nonbeliever life offers and gives alot more happiness and content if you live the good life and i believe you will be judged accordingly if you weren't a believer... that would be fair won't it ? :)

There are things in the Bible that John could only explain the way he did because he had no reference to what it was - refering to the end of times war and the machines of war.
If at first, the idea is not absurd, then there is no hope for it

First off, I'm not an unbeliever. I'm a Christian and a pastor. I have a MA in theology. I simply believe the biblical writer writes to his generation. Yes, the truths apply to all generations, but it is wrong when you take false teachings and misconstrue the teachings of Christ with them. No matter how many books LaHaye may sell with the lies.

The truth Revelation brings to the Christians of the first century Christians and Christians of any geneartion, including today is: God is victorious over evil, Christ is ALREADY the victor (his victory was won on the cross, not a small valley in Meggido), and we will live with him in heaven for eternity. I find that quite comforting without believing Christ will general some army in a a pseudo nuclear war. :S

I agree with your interpretation. End timers worry the hell out of me far more than Islamic terrorists who don't have the bomb or the influence that the end timers do.

The Antichrist will then gather his armies, along with all the armies of the world for the "final solution", to take control of Jerusalem by force, and wipe out the Jews once and for all (Joel 3:2). As the seven year period comes to a close, the Lord Jesus Christ will return with the armies of heaven, to defeat the Antichrist and his armies and save Jerusalem, and set up His kingdom on earth (Revelation 19).

Christ, the prince of peace, leading an actual war. What about his message of peace? What about Paul's admonishment that we do not fight against flesh and blood?? Can good overcome evil by force? Hardly. If THAT is the Christ of the NT, I want no part of him. Thank God it is not.

I don't understand why Jesus is refered to as the Prince of Peace when he was very clear that Peace was not what he was bringing. Also why Christians and Muslims feel that his words were meant for them when again he was very clear as to who his message was aimed at.

Quote

Not Peace but Division
49"I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed! 51Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."

Luke 12:50-53

34"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn
" 'a man against his father,
a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law -
36a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'[e]

37"Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; 38and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

Matthew 10:34-39

5These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: "Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'

Matthew 10:5-7

You or any other can always take texts out of context and make a case contrary to what JC teaches us through the whole of scripture. The division or lack of peace he says he will bring is because family will divide itself over him -- they will be either for Christ or anti-Christ. He understands he is catalyst for this division. However, for those who chose him, he offers a peace that passes all understanding. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

A great example of taking text out of context. What we have here is timing. Jesus instructed his disciples to not go into the gentile land to teach ... just yet. But to first go to the twelve tribes of Israel. JC himself led the disciples over to the gentile land (the decapolis) after he saved a demon possessed man. This man wanted to follow Christ, but JC made him go home and witness to his family and community first. The next time JC came he was welcomed. He fed the multitude for the second time. The first time he fed the multitude it was in Israel. he had 12 baskets left over - symbolic for all the tribes of Israel. When he fed to multitude the second time it was near the decapolis (ten cities) of Gentiles. Because the man formerly demon possessed had told about him there was a multitude waiting to be taught. (The first time they ran him off)

JC taught them, fed them and had 7 baskets left over -- one for every cannanite tribe that lived there.

it is all about context when properly interpreting scripture.

I'm not taking it out of context simply directly taking it from the bible and asking a question about what clearly looks like a statement that runs against the whole notion of Jesus being the Prince of peace. If you read the rest of eiter chapter you will see that far from taking it out of context I lifted the entire verse that relates to the part I was asking about. If I were trying to take it out of context I would have made reference to the part where Jesus appears to call for martyrs. (I understand what he is really saying here, the rest seems pretty clear to me.)

Whoever defines the context is in control of the meaning. Not enough lawyers were involved in proof-reading it.

But you did take it out of context. As I said, that passage was a reminder that you will be either with him or against him ... no middle ground. When you read the whole of JC teaching it is obvious even to the casual reader that JC did not come to bring war, he came to bring personal peace brought on by a relationship with God and a better relationship with other people.

Taking that text and showing it as proof that JC is not the prince of peace is the very definition of "taking a text out of context". The context was the whole of JC's teaching.

I'm interested in your reply about the passage where JC tells his followers to not go to the gentiles. Can you see how that is not an accurate representation of his teaching? It mere a timing aspect. JC took the diciples to the gentiles many times.

Yes, I meant that. JC did not teach his followers to take up a literal physical war

He spoke of division, but never challenged any followers to take up battle. In fact he said the opposite to Pilate: Matthew 18:36 Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."

Of course, in Christian theology, Jesus is God, so that passage would be true Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father John 14:9

rechecked it. Actually Drosnin predicted a devastating nuclear attack on the USA in the Jewish year corresponding to 2006 (ending friday evening). But then he covered his ass on ALL predictions, saying that the Bible Codes just predict one possible future.:P;)

so I guess that means that even if he's wrong, he's STILL right.:)

too bad Bill Cole didn't think of doing that.:P

within You: means no heaven and absolutely no HELL

god sending 'unbelievers to hell' makes him a murderous psychopath, considering that 4 billion people on the planet believe in allah, vishnu, no god, etc.

jesusneverexisted.com has the truth about the myth of jesus as god. Gnosticism was the only form of christianity prior to the Council of Nicea and the FABRICATION of the man. At which point Luke 19:27 became the cause celebre' for the wanton slaughter of everyone who would not bow to the church.
