AggieDave 6 #27 September 10, 2006 On the flip side, they offer very good training to civilians as well as LEOs. Its reasonably priced for the services and courses offered compared to other similar training organizations. Yes, I realize that it is a small part of their company, but its a part that means something to a lot of people who have their butt on the line every day inside the US.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." freeflir29 0 #28 September 10, 2006 OK...........let me tip toe lightly here. I work for a company which is in DIRECT competition with BW. The bullshit about "No rules of engagement" and "No accountability" and "Not responsible to anyone" are COMPLETE.............I say again COMPLETE horse shit. Companies like Dyncorp, Blackwater, SOC/SMG, MVM, Ronco, and about 30+ others are doing business in Iraq. If they are here they are working (The big companies anyway) for some govt entity. Be it Department of Defense, Dept of State, or MANY other govt agencies. The BIGEST contracts are with Dept of State. The reason they hired contractors? When the war started the US OBVIOUSLY had to put a diplomatic presence in the country. IE US Embassy. The people that do security for the Embassy are called "Diplomatic Security Agents." They are Federal Law Enforcement officers just like the FBI. Well.........in Iraq ALONE they needed over 1000 new people to do the job. The US Govt saw Iraq as a "temporary" thing. Why hire and spend 6 months training a new federal employee that you have to pay for the next 20+ years? PLUS RETIREMEMENT! Instead they about doubled the salary and brought in Contractors. But when they don't need a contractor anymore they just shit can them. No strings attached. Believe it or not.........this isn't new. The US Govt has been using contractors in this manner for a LONG time. I know one company (Ronco Security Services) has been in business since Vietnam. The company I work for STILL has contracts that have been going on for 15 years or more. Rules of Engagement? I can't discuss specifics for obvious reasons. They are there though and are very thorough. If I pull a trigger for ANY reason.....Myself and EVERY SINGLE team member have to write an incident report. If it was found that someone fired inappropriately..........you'll be on a plane back to the US QUICKLY! It won't stop there either. I won't go into further details but trust me........people ARE being held accountable. BW? Yeah.............they have a lot of problems. They employ some FINE operators in MOST instances. However, they also employ a lot of young guys that have some good experience but it's usually ALL military. I was VERY glad that I had 2 years of police experience before I started doing this. I NEEDED that for this job. It makes me 1000% more effective. A LOT of the bad press has come from small companies that DO NOT work for the US Govt. They are working for "Joe's Construction Company" and have FAR less oversight. I have seen some of those teams that roll around looking like shit bags in vehicles that look they just drove from the set of "Mad Max." If anyone has specific questions I'll answer what I can in PM's. That's about all I will say in public.
dorbie 0 #29 September 10, 2006 Eye of the beholder, there's nothing wrong with any of the stuff in those videos. That was Najaf during combat and all I see are guys fighting and risking their lives. The only shots fired from the helo were at dirt in the middle of nowhere. Seems like a lot of ignorant people want to project their issues and assumptions on what guys risking their lives do for training, on patrol and in combat even when there's absolutely nothing to suggest any wrongdoing anywhere in those videos.
