warpedskydiver 0 #1 August 12, 2006 If a LONG time friend and fellow soldier of very respectable rank(ret.), were to ask you to do something that you think is just plain nonsense and makes you think he has lost his mind, would you do it anyways, out of loyalty, and friendship, if no harm was done to you, except make everyone wonder if you are insane or stupid? SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY UNLESS YOU WANT TO RECEIVE A PERCUSSION TUNING, OK? I AM DEAD FUCKING SERIOUS
beowulf 1 #2 August 12, 2006 Depends does it involve anything illegal? If not I would probably do it. It just really depends on what it is.
warpedskydiver 0 #3 August 12, 2006 It was posted yesterday on this forum, he sent some other things I read and deleted not knowing if he is gonna get himself in trouble, legally or not. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=2377308;page=1;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25;
Duckwater 0 #4 August 12, 2006 Dude, I am in a similar situation. One of my best friends is in a very screwey relationship. VERY SCREWEY. He has made some very insane choices over the last year. I have known him forever and he has never made bad choices. He claims to be in love but I know he is not. I CANT say anything because I will then be the asshole, even though the truth is obvious. I sometimes really worry about his mental health. But, what can you do????
warpedskydiver 0 #5 August 12, 2006 It is far worse this guy could get Committed or Jailed or Deceased. for REAL
Duckwater 0 #6 August 12, 2006 Dude, if it is truly that serious, intervene. Even if you think you are overstepping your bounds, do it. Especially if you think he can be helped. He might hate you at first, but he wont later. I had a guy take away my card to fly low aerobatics because I was pushing it and was going to kill myself. I hated him for 5 years. I finally figured it out and wrote him, thanking him for saving my life.

point_code 0 #13 August 12, 2006 gottcha. Anyhow, in the end you are responsible for YOUR actions regardless of the motive. If you can sleep well at night afterwards then go for it, if not then perhaps you need to reconsider.
miked10270 0 #14 August 12, 2006 Hi Randall, I think you're actually answering your own question. You want to do this thing for him out of loyalty, but your common sense is telling you not to. Without knowing the specifics, I'd counsel you to follow your Head, rather than your Heart. Regards, Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. warpedskydiver 0 #15 August 12, 2006 He called the police after he freaked out and then asked them to please take him to the VA hospital I am glad at least he will get help and that I didn't have to go disarm him. TYVM to everyone who even thought about trying to help BTW the post yesterday was one request he made I thought it harmless but very strange and unusually weird for him to write. wmw999 2,556 #16 August 12, 2006 If posting that weird tirade was what he asked you to do, it was absolutely the right thing to do. I'm glad he saw some sense; it sucks when you can't reach someone you really care about. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
