Are we getting snowed with this terror plot?

Recommended Posts

From the Independent Online:
Photographs of British al-Qaeda suspect Rashid Rauf appeared in UK newspapers yesterday after Pakistani authorities claimed he was a "key person" in the latest plot.

Two senior officials in Pakistan revealed that Britain's intelligence services had asked them to trail Rauf after he entered the country. He was arrested on August 4 in the eastern city of Bahawalpur.

Bahawalpur is known to have links to Jaish-e-Mohammed, a group suspected of connections to al-Qaeda, fighting Indian rule in divided Kashmir.

"When they interrogated Rauf, he broke," one of the officials said. "He told them what we believe was not even in the knowledge of the US and the British, that they were actually planning to blow up airliners.

"When they had finished interrogating him they shared this information with the British, and they carried out the arrests in Britain."

One of the 24 arrested last week has now been released.

>Maybe when the women of NOW are forced to wear burkas . . . .

"Maybe when the huns come and cut YOUR child's arms off . . ." (1917)

"Maybe when the commies burn YOUR church down . . . " (1955)

The words change but the scare tactics stay the same. It's a common tactic - create fear of an external enemy and rally people to a leader's cause based on that fear. It is far easier to create fear than respect; people are more easily scared than awed.

Bill you have to admit it's kind of odd that driving while disguised by an object that covers your face is an offense punishable by imprisonment, is not enforced on a woman who wears Bhurka, or any scarves covering the face.

I only can begin to wonder why a law is not equally enforced for all people and not some?

I know there are a great many other laws out there that are being applied in the same shoddy manor.

If a law is only going to be enforced for some of the people maybe it should not be a law at all.

I had a friend arrested in the mid 80's in chicago for wearing a balaclava while driving in the winter.

His car had no heat (VW beetle ) and he was sick.

Nice huh?

He got the case dropped after spending a couple thousand dollars in legal fees.

. . . and a man who bares his chest at a beach gets away with it - but a woman doing the same thing gets arrested. We have some odd laws here that have more to do with tradition than anything else.
