Murder is justified?

in reply to "How will it end?

Seriously, how will it end????? "
......................................

As if it will :S

Middle east conflicts traditionally mutate into long years of relative peace under totalitarian rule after long years of war reduce the male population below critical mass.

The most cunning & ruthless meglamaniacs survive to subjugate the masses and spread their genes. Injustices create dissent and when enough alpha males are reproduced off it goes again.

eg .......history :|

The solution here ???

Perhaps a wholesome alternative to oil as the fuel of choice could help make the middle east conflict irrelevant to most of us.
Sideling the religious zealots ( ie current leaders on both sides) seems like a helpful ploy as well.

Rather than a 'war on terror' how about a 'war on intolerance.'

Just a passing thought but do you think the 'tewwawists' would use their first nuke on the good guys or each other.?
I bet they test it on their dearest & nearest .........:)

>How will it end?

1) The US administration will change hands. All woes in Iraq will be blamed on the previous administration.

2) We will keep committing troops to the region until it becomes clear that we are doing more harm than good. At that point:

a) We will declare victory and get the hell out
b) We will stay for another few years, lose a lot of troops, then get the hell out
c) We will permanently occupy Iraq and create our own little forever-war like the one Israel has now.

3) We will wait until there is a significant lull in the fighting, get out fast before they start fighting again, then declare victory. The government will then collapse rapidly into a civil war. We will blame Iran.

>I think partition is and will be the answer.

Why won't that just turn into an Israel vs Lebanon thing? I mean, I could see it reducing local violence, but the consequences may be:

-endless border wars
-fighting starting in Turkey as the turkish kurds try to join the new kurdistan
-three new countries, at least two of which hate the US more than Al Qaeda

I also can't see how that can be spun into "things are going great in Iraq!" which will be a neccessary spin if it happens before 2008.

Despite possible consequences what other answers to the problem are there?

The entire situation has been mismanaged into a virtually endless conflict as it is.

Partition, if carried out correctly and honestly, could end at least the worst of the problems.

Otherwise, bring back Saddam - he'll soon sort them out........:S

'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

I think you may be right. It would have a _lot_ of problems (as I mentioned above) but it may be the lesser of several evils. At this point I don't think there is one 'right' answer.

>Otherwise, bring back Saddam . . . .

Or someone equally good at crushing all dissent.
