rushmc 23 #26 August 6, 2006 QuoteHmm. She is indeed a hate-monger - but that's her _job._ It's how she makes money; she wouldn't be on TV now selling her books if she just politely disagreed with people. But hate her? I don't even know her. For all I know, she's a nice person beneath her public (and well-paid) exterior. Or she might really believe all that stuff she says, but is just misguided. That's not something you can learn by watching her on TV. Hate monger? Example? When I hear "hate" in a libs comment the red flags start waving so bill I ask what she says you feel is hateful....."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." billvon 3,118 #29 August 7, 2006 Hatemonger: One who incites others to hatred or prejudice. "We need to execute people like John Walker in order to physically intimidate liberals, by making them realize that they can be killed too." "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity." "Women like Pamela Harriman and Patricia Duff are basically Anna Nicole Smith from the waist down. Let's just call it for what it is. They're whores." "If you don't hate Clinton and the people who labored to keep him in office, you don't love your country." "People like you caused us to lose that war." (to a Vietnam vet) "I’ve never seen people enjoying their husbands’ deaths so much" (referring to the 9/11 widows) "We need somebody to put rat poison in Justice Stevens’ crème brulee." The only real question about Clinton, per her, was "whether to impeach or assassinate." Again, I have no idea if she's a good or a bad person. She uses hate to make money; lots of people do, and she's very good at it.

idrankwhat 0 #32 August 7, 2006 Quote She's a button-pusher, and a very bright and articulate one. She's marketing her product toward her target audience the same way other entertainers do, and is getting paid very well for it. mh And we're all worse off for her efforts. The problem is that too many people think that her "product" has value outside of a sad form of entertainment. They think that she offers ideas that should be included in public debate. The fact that she's repeatedly given a forum shows just how much the mainstream news media is more interested in making money than in actually providing a valuable information service. rehmwa 2 #34 August 11, 2006 QuoteThe problem is that too many people think that her "product" has value Define "too many". I'd say too many people take Robin Williams seriously. I'd say too many people took Johnny Carson seriously. I suspect too many people took Howdy Doody seriously. Too many people take lots of 'entertainers' too seriously. There will always be those that take the words of entertainers seriously. She offers up entertainment only. Knowing her views are 'design' for shock value, I take her views less seriously than I would just talking to someone at the airport - at least the random citizen is likely a little bit sincere. I can't automatically credit sincerity to someone who does it for a living. Too bad for those that take her points to heart. They are cancelled out by those that take the same entertainers seriously but with the opposing viewpoint - as you are doing. Thanks for helping keep the balance. Edit: the best way to shut down an entertainer is not to publicly disagree and write cartoons. The best way is to ignore completely them into the background - NO publicity is the only way away from them. Ignore them, and they'll change jobs. ... The problem as I see it is that she's an entertainer but she's put on news shows, not "entertainment tonight" or the new hit gameshow "what's in YOUR colon today?" The same people out there who thought/think that Iraq had WMD's, which is way too many, are the ones that are going to mistake her art form for valid discourse. And I agree, ignore her and she'll go away. I know I'm feeding the beast as I type but I'm going on the assumption that SC isn't required reading. Too bad. billvon 3,118 #39 November 1, 2006 Bad news for Ann. Looks like she may have been less than 100% truthful while voting: ------------- Ann Coulter Says She Won't Cooperate in Voting Probe Published: November 01, 2006 5:00 PM ET WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. Conservative columnist Ann Coulter has refused to cooperate in an investigation into whether she voted in the wrong precinct, so the case will probably be turned over to prosecutors, Palm Beach County's elections chief said Wednesday. Knowingly voting in the wrong precinct is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison. -------------- http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003346999 It's becoming a depressing pattern. Rush rails against what losers drug addicts are - then turns out to be one himself. Ann castigates democrats for not knowing how to vote in Florida, and lo and behold, turns out she either can't figure out the process or is trying to vote fraudulently. Foley champions protection of children from internet predators, and then turns out to be what he's been (supposedly) fighting against. SpeedRacer 1 #49 November 2, 2006 anyone can select photos like that. I'm reminded of those supermarket tabloids that scream how such & such a celebrity's drug/alchol use/general partying is OUT OF CONTROL!!! and then they show a photo where the photographer caught them in mid-blink so that their eyelids are half-closed so they look like a burn-out. With the exception of Albright, Reno and Helen Thomas, yes point taken that the photographer does have a lot of flexiblity to capture the picture they are looking for.
