Should the $20 bill be changed?

Recommended Posts

As some of you may have read in the news, a large 140yr old Elm tree in front of the White House fell due to the rain. That tree is featured on the potrait on the $20 bill. Do you think they should change the bill or leave the bill as is due to historical reasons.

Remember, the tree is believed to be from the Jackson era.

Change for a $20? 2 tens or 4 fives?

Preferably I like it when someone will change my $20 bill for 5 $100's but that's very very rare.

On the flip side, there's some folks out there right now that are very good at "washing" $5 bills and reprinting them with an ink jet printer as $50s and $100s. Some of the pens show them to be real, but the mag-strip is different as well as the water mark. Its amazing how many get passed without problems until they're noticed by the bank when the business turns their cash in.[:/]

Interesting question. I would say change it so some future coin collectors can sell their "pre-Jacksonian" $20s for that much more. Something like Silver Certificates or wheat pennies are today.

Wheat pennies aren't worth that much. A steel wheat penny is worth a bit more, though.;)

Sort of like everyone saving the states quaters, just like all the other 5-trillion people doing that...no one is saving the old quaters, though.:P

HAhahahaha!
George Washington was a slave owning drunkard.

Anyways, most people's grasp on even recent history (like from 1700-on) is laughable...its sad but still fun to laugh at people when they don't know anything about it but still try.

Yes, let's make a change that costs taxpayer money to create new plates, and loads of other things for a strictly cosmetic reason.
