rushmc 23 #103 June 21, 2006 QuoteQuoteQuote Yes, but only on Tuesdays. HA! I knew it, you're a web designer. Having lived in a college town for the past 8 years its amazing how many web designers and database programers I've met that work as Pizza Delievery guys and the such. The market is well beyond saturdated in this area with very very good and talented IT types. So the job markets suck, the pay sucks and if you want better pay and ask for it, you'll be let go since they can find another just like you to replace you just by throwing a rock sort of near campus. Whom ever it hits first gets hired and they're just as good or better then you are in your field. I actually only have one job. And that is Web Application Developer. I spend far more of my time dealing with back end programming than designing what a page will look like. All of my work is databases driven. They are applications that just happen to be Web based. When I think of Web Designer, I think of some who might know a little code but mostly works in Dreamweaver and is far more artistic than I. ERP type applications like PeopleSoft or SAP?"America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." GTAVercetti 0 #104 June 21, 2006 I had to go look up what the hell ERP is. I am still not sure I get it, but that is because I only looked for about 5 seconds I am sure. Seems to be alot of "buzzwords" and meta-information in the pages I read so far. But from what I gather, no, I do not do ERP. Basically, you can sum up what I do as this: I create web applications that make it easier for others to do their jobs here. No single product is all-encompassing. In fact, most are for specific tasks. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

In the world I am in they stand for Enterprise Resource Planning. We put one in a few years ago that replace all the old legacy systems using a web based system tied to an Oracle data base. All the back office systems, sourcing supply chain accounting property accounts payable .......well you get the idea. Those that can get into those apps and customize and/or change them are very talented and paitent people (for both the tech skills and working with SME's like I was) SME = Subject Matter Expert."America will never be destroyed from the outside, if we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Still makes it anecdotal...going up against actual numbers. Your average cop isn't a brainiac...2 years in college is it here in Canada...would hardly call that well educated. kallend 2,146 #113 June 27, 2006 Quote And here is the mighty professor kallend trying to convince everyone that Chicago has had some kind of dramatic change for the better in their homicide rate. A change of .2% (.002) is so statistically insignificant as to be laughable. And I can't believe that you would try and foist this kind of deceipt and misimpression upon people here. Shame on you. Yeah, I know, you'll come back and claim; "Well, I didn't lie, did I? One less murder, is in fact 'down'". Well, you were mathematically correct. But it means absolutely nothing as far as trends go. You withheld the full truth and the full story, and you twisted one single data point of change into a misimpression that is a lie. That's your crime. . What I wrote (first post of this thread) was "I see that homicides are down in NYC, Chicago, Detroit and Los Angeles, though". Where did I claim the change was "a dramatic change for the better"? Explain how writing "I see that homicides are down in NYC, Chicago, Detroit and Los Angeles, though". is "withholding the full truth", "a lie" and my "crime", when it's true. John, your tone towards me is increasingly offensive to the point of becoming personal attacks.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. JohnRich 4 #114 June 27, 2006 QuoteJohn, your tone towards me is increasingly offensive to the point of becoming personal attacks. Here are my suggestions for you: Try participating in honest debate instead of playing games, and then you won't get attacked so much. Don't start a thread purporting to be one thing, and then many days later claim that it was only "parody". We never know whether to believe you or not, like the fable of "The boy who cried wolf." You're not going to have any credibility that way. Try not hijacking so many unrelated threads by interjecting your Bush-hating/Republican-hating/America-hating venom. You spew so much of it, it appears that it's eating you up inside, like battery acid in your veins. Try not pretending to be pro-gun when every thing you do and say is anti-gun (as this thread so aptly illustrates). Try just saying what you mean, instead of being coy so as to provide yourself with deniability, so that you have an easy "out" to deflect criticism about how your one-liner's are interpreted. Be frank enough to say what you mean, and mean what you say. And then to actually defend your position instead of finding a way to deny that it's what you meant. Just be an honest straight-shooter. That's what will earn my respect, even if we strongly disagree. I don't have this problem with anyone else, even those that disagree with me. Do you suppose that could be because of something in your style here? Perhaps you should conduct some personal introspection about your manner of conduct here. One has only to look at the first message in this thread, which you posted, to see the truth in what I'm saying here. Billvon often voices similar criticisms of my posts. In fact, he and you are like Mutt & Jeff the way you immediately pounce on conservative opinions, often within seconds of each other. But I don't have this same problem with Billvon, because he's a straight shooter - he says his piece flat out and doesn't play games. You ought to try it some time. Yeah, I know: Billvon: Your one warning. Sorry Billvon, but it needed to be said. I'll shut up now. I'm gonna go talk about Bambi and flowers over in Bonfire. kallend 2,146 #115 June 27, 2006 Just because you can't understand that I can be pro citizens' rights to own guns while disputing your position on guns and crime doesn't mean I'm anti-gun. It just means you haven't bothered to think about it. John, you know full well I didn't write what you said I wrote, and for which you subsequently targeted me for a personal attack (you used the words "lie" and "your crime") yet you can't bring yourself to admit it. That is dishonest. If you can't provide a link to a post in this thread proving I wrote what you said I wrote, you should retract the statement and apologize for calling me a liar.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
