mikkey 0 #51 June 15, 2006 QuoteThey are guilty of trying to plot attacks aginst the U.S. If you have been in the face of these people you would feel different. But you hide at home and critize the gov't. for protecting you. Were there any trials in WW1 or WW2 NO!!. Caught in the act means guilty. You dont seem to read. Let's try again: Most of the detainee were NOT arrested "on the battlefield". They were arrested post conflict based on "intelligence" / informants. A lot of that has already been shown to be wrong. About 100-200 have already been released without charges. One of the guys who killed himself had been scheduled for release but not been told! Only 10 of all detainees have been charged after 4.5 years..... Stop believing the US administrations and Fox news spin.--------------------------------------------------------- When people look like ants - pull. When ants look like people - pray. rehmwa 2 #52 June 15, 2006 QuoteFunnily enough my Aunt just came back from Germany, she had a photo of a rather amusing street sign - "Nuremberg, famous for its gingerbread!" Would you agree with that? If it was the 1950's? NO but today, if it's true, why keep harping on it? Do you want to be responsible for what your grandparents did in a completely different world back then? ... miked10270 0 #53 June 15, 2006 Interestingly, Nuremburg has preserved the podium ans part of the stadium constructed for The Nuremburg Rallies (lest we forget - or worse, give the denialists any credence). The rest of it's a truck park and factory units - very appropriate. The difference is that where once the top Nazis ranted at their subjects, now you'll find kids skateboarding & kicking a ball around.I was studying some of the original photos taken at Nuremburg looking at camera angle & perspective to duplicate the original shots today (with the kids playing) to superimpose my shots on the originals - as a sort of "The Thousand Year Reich?" theme. Aside from that, I guess for the same reason I donate to veterans charities and wear a poppy around remembrance day. Y'know, the whole lest we forget, don't let history repeat itself kinda deal.Do you want to have an ideagasm?

billvon 3,119 #56 June 20, 2006 >Killing yourself is an act of war!!! Apparently this vicious act of war has been tried before: -------------------------------- I've been to Guantanamo six times. It was during my first visit in January 2005 that I learned how expressions of polite interest in minute details can elicit some of the most startling revelations. As Naval Hospital commander Capt. John Edmundson showed off the 48-bed prison annex, for instance, I asked, apropos of nothing, if the facility had ever been at or near capacity. "Only during the mass-hanging incident," the Navy doctor replied, provoking audible gasps and horrified expressions among the public affairs minders and op-sec — operational security — watchdogs in the entourage, none of whom were particularly pleased with the disclosure that 23 prisoners had attempted simultaneously to hang themselves with torn bed sheets in late 2003. -------------------------------- http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-op-williams18jun18,1,7689933.story?ctrack=1&cset=true Detainees have proven their treachery and propensity towards violence several times - by trying to starve themselves, trying to hang themselves and by refusing to become guilty of anything. Fortunately, this problem will soon be solved - all reporters that reported on the suicides have been kicked off the base, so we won't have to hear about such things any more. At last the US is learning what the USSR learned about how to run a good gulag.
