Gun Control: Ban Orange Paint

Recommended Posts

I like painting guns orange. It's my 'art'.

Why is the government always trying to restrict my freedom of speech? I mean, if I want to make an artistic statement about "MAN's INHUMANITY TO MAN" by lounging naked in a small swimming pool on my driveway eating french fries - why is it my neighbors and 'the man' trying to keep me down. {stupid 'stingy' tasers and nightsticks - grumble}

It's a serious facist state around here. Freedom for orange paint!!!!

...
Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

I think that reducing the number of people with real guns painted with the pattern used to identify toy guns would help. Making it illegal to so modify a gun that way would help, as would making it illegal to provide kits to do so. Since people can always get orange paint (and apply it quickly) it's not a 100% solution of course.

So you must be one of the only two people that voted: "This will make police officers more safe"?

What exactly is "the pattern used to identify toy guns"? I don't think there is any such uniform thing, other than an orange muzzle. So why not just ban orange muzzles on real guns? And if you want to ban orange gun paint, I think that would be stupid, but at least it would be narrowly targeted. But other colors certainly shouldn't be banned. If people want to decorate their guns in colorful or camoflauge patterns, I don't see the harm.

Take a look at the painted guns at this page and tell me why gun owners in New York should be deprived of these paint scheme options.

(That "diamond-plate" paint scheme is butt-ugly!)

Right . . . .

>So why not just ban orange muzzles on real guns?

That's what I'm proposing.

So you would agree then that Bloomberg's call to ban "gun paint kits" is stupid? Especially since there are plenty of other ways for criminals to paint their muzzle orange, like using hardware store paint, craft store paint, or their girlfriend's nail polish?
