Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld defended the training and conduct of U.S. troops and said incidents such as the alleged massacre of Iraqi civilians at Haditha shouldn't happen.

"We know that 99.9 percent of our forces conduct themselves in an exemplary manner. We also know that in conflicts things that shouldn't happen, do happen," he said. "We don't expect U.S. soldiers to act that way, and they're trained not to."

0.1% are bad out of 130,000
so (0.1/100) * 130,000 = 130 bad apples

Sure 1 would be too many.. but the people that make up the troops (of all our countries) are just people from the general population (like any other work force) and so contain the best and worst of that population.

The only difference, at the moment, is that they are being given center stage on the news and press.

Like any box of apples.... it's only the bad ones that get noticed.

I have no problems supporting the troops, cops, fire service, paramedics etc... etc... but lets chase any scumbags down like the rats that they are.

Anyone suggesting that All Service personel are saints, is deluding themselves (as I said in another thread.. if that was they case you would need JAG or miltary prisons).

Praise, where praise is due and No Cover-ups.

Let all of our and their [Good] people be safe...
and let all the others be prosecuted to full extent of the law..
