billvon 3,132 #1 May 29, 2006 The GOP is getting very desperate in the 50th Congressional District in California. They have featured ads claiming the democratic contender supports child pornography, and supports amnesty for all illegal aliens (she doesn't.) The latest salvo came today - the "Official Non-Partisan Voter Guide of California" showed up in my mailbox. Oddly it endorsed all republican candidates. A bit of research shows that this 'guide' is produced by Gilliard Blanning and Wysocki, a republican consulting firm. They advertise that they use "creative communication tactics" on their home page. I think the GOP doesn't realize that people are getting really sick of the Duke Cunninghams and the GBW-type firms. The GOP has turned into its own worst enemy. The democrats, although they still don't have their act together, may just win this by default.
kelpdiver 2 #2 May 29, 2006 you of all people know that neither party has an exclusive on this sort of behavior. Since there essentially are no Republicans expecting to win in the inner Bay Area, I see only Democrats at work tearing each other down. And we don't really see much from the governor's contenders, though it's looking more and more like Arnold will coast after the two beat each other to death. billvon 3,132 #4 May 29, 2006 >you of all people know that neither party has an exclusive on this >sort of behavior. Of course. The democrats are just less desperate here; they weren't really expecting to win, and got this handed to them. I think they've realized their best course of action is to keep a low profile and let the GOP beat themselves.

Each party has its stereotypical behavior. The left loves the ladies, the right loves money. There are deviations, but this behavior is expected from their respective parties. Channman 2 #7 May 30, 2006 Most of the state leans to the left and many of the so called republicans there tend to be more left than right. So I'm not sure why Bill thinks the Republican party is desperate, there is no real orginized Rebublican party that is conservitive left in California. California is a beatiful state, and has low taxes, affordable housing, great well fare programs, and Large Corp's. doing all they can do to move there and open up shop and oh almost forgot Hollywood. Oh and Vehicle registration is really cheap also.
billvon 3,132 #8 May 30, 2006 >So I'm not sure why Bill thinks the Republican party is desperate . . . Cause the 50th (where I live) has been a solidly republican area for decades. Lots of Miramar retirees. >there is no real orginized Rebublican party that is conservitive left in California. There's no organized conservative republican party left in the US. kelpdiver 2 #10 May 30, 2006 Quote Oh and Vehicle registration is really cheap also. actually, it is. the VLF has been discounted 66% (75?) for the past several years and though it was structured to be removed when dictated by budget, it's proven remarkably unpopular to do so.
