Ever fired it under fire yourself?

Ooh! Ooh! I did! I did!! It was a M2 50-cal, does that count? How about an M249 SAW? B| Of course, those are bee-bees compared to the 155mm Arty round that went off under my HMMWV...talk about knock down/blow up power. That'll wake you up, believe me. :S:P:);)
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

hey Gawain... how far are you from Philly? I go there for work from time to time and if you are still in the hospital (Walter Reed?), I'd love to swing buy and pay you a visit!

I'd love to see your grouping accuracy fired under pressure from 10metres, nevermind 25.

I've worked with your professional's where they've been "under pressure."

I'm lucky to be alive because your nation's professional's were "under pressure."

This is actually winding me up now.

So I won't let it!

Fuck it.

All the best.

Come on don't be like that eh?

You know we aren't all like some individuals

Did you shout "YEEHAH" or "FUCK YEAH" after the contact?

:)

The first time, it was "FUCK YEAH". The second time it was, "YOU'RE DEAD MOTHA-FUCKA!!!" The third time it was "HOLY SHIT!!!" (RPG almost got us). There were a couple other times and expletives. All the mortar attacks were "holy shit" times (friendly and foe, we always seemed to get "danger close" to the friendly counter batteries). The last time was "DOOOH" followed by falling back inside the HMMWV screaming loudly: "I'm hit." Kinda sucked...B|:S;)

Yes, point taken mate - and of course your right.

But to an extent I will be like that. You know why!

Laters:)

'for it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "chuck 'im out, the brute!" But it's "saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot.'

Look - regarding all the banter and debates we've had recently it's been reasonably interesting and also relevant to the current international issues.

But it's getting a bit personal now, isn't it?

Funnily enough I still stand by what I've said. As I expect you guy's to do so as well.

Remember, I'm for America.(really!)

But as I pointed out earlier and in previous posts there are a few issues I have.

But I'm going to stop taking these debates to the level where we're all getting seriously pissed off through regurgitating previous shit thats probably best left in the past.:)

How many fatal gun incidents do the swiss have a year? Like I SAID, its not the ownership of weapons that is the problem. Its the mindset of those that own them.

You have somewhat of a point there, but once again, your lumping EVERYONE into ONE catagory which is irresponsible. I don't have that mindset and I doubt that most on this forum do either, despite their banter. In fact, I have yet to really meet someone who has that gunslinging machismo attitude that you refer to, although I agree, it does exist in this country.

That whole sentence contradicts itself. If the MAJOR majority of gun owners don't have that attitude, then it DOESN'T exist in the country. What you see is large group of people stereotyping the whole country this way just because an extremely small but visible sub/sub/subgroup act that way. Or even just fictional characters in a bunch of hollywood movies. But why be surprised that unfair misperceptions are constantly being treated as truth? It's the in thing today.

So you believe that all police officers and soldiers have small dicks.

Well, that certainly does a lot for your credibility.

"What is the truth in this matter? What evidence do you have that backs it up as truth?"

Can you prove they don't?

{{just using some logic I've seen in a few other posts to justify a negative stereotype - it's fun}}

Clearly another xample of why the UN will have to intervean in the US to sort out your gun problems.

why would the UN waste its time doing that? :S

i say let them keep their guns and all the macho retards who get an erection by mearly looking at their "six shooter" can keep believing they're real big men with their real big toys :)
... plus, it makes alot of people in the rest of the world laugh when they see yet another high school massacre in fucked up America (i think we're about due for another one aren't we?). Why not leave guns to the jarheads meat heads in the army? maybe you might not have so many gun murders and high school massacres then :)

The Un won't need to invade you we'll just use your own cops and army after the Anti Gun lobby has been supported to the hilt America will be disarmed from within, if you want to shoot your own people well, no change there I suppose. :D

Yawn, I wonder if you ever have spoken with ANY police officer in the US that is WILLING to try and go house to house conficating guns.

I wonder how many officers would still try it after say the first 50 of their dept. are cut to ribbons by superior firepower and accuracy, including field tactics.

I know some cops who are SF and or SPECWAR and THEY don't wanna try that.:|

The ONLY people willing to give up their guns are called VICTIMS.

:D this post is a classic, i might have it printed on a t-shirt

Gun ownership doesn't make it a paranoid society, look at the Swiss. What make it a paranoid society is the reasons that Americans always come up with to own firearms. 'So I can protect myself' 'So I can defend myself' 'So I can walk down the road without fear' 'So I can be free'. THAT my good man is PARANOIA. I feel sorry for you all.

Well, don't feel sorry for me, I'm not paranoid at all. Rather, I have a healthy, realistic outlook about life in the US. I know what potential threats there are, and as the father of 4 and husband to a disabled wife, I know it's incumbant upon me to protect them from harm. I also know that it's far more effective to protect myself and my family with a firearm rather than a bow and arrow or an axe.

All of your statements only imply a degree of paranoia when you look at the situation through the glass dimly. I find it interesting that you find the US paranoid but not the Swiss.

it was this bit that made me feel sorry for you (plus the follow up statement) i live in England, even though you've not mentioned the dangers you feel you face on a daily basis, i can imagine what you mean. I have none of the "realistic ideas" that you have, about my life in England, yes England has it's fair share of problems (john rich can dig up some news quotes to prove that) BUT, the examples given are a tiny minority, certainly not enough of those things happen to make me feel the need to own a gun to protect my loved ones.

I feel the average opinion on guns by the average American is more of a statement of the society they live in, than the person they are

So you think its funny to hear about school kids shooting each other? If I thought for a moment you were actually a skydiver I'd be concerned.

Unless you become part of that "tiny" majority. Then thanks to the large number of guns in criminal circulation, you'll be reduced to platitudes like: "Good sir, have you no decency?"

Since your perception of crime rates in England seems to be flawed, perhaps you should reconsider your position about the value of gun ownership for personal protection.
