Total Fractionalization of Speaker's Corner is complete when?

Recommended Posts

Seems all moderates are in a full scale exodus to gear and rigging, bonfire, and general skydiving.

Any remaining are being accused of extremism and lack of proper hygiene.

How long until until it's just a seething mass of PAs between 4 or 5 people on the rabid left and another 4 or 5 people on the rabid right + THE THREAD for mockery purposes?

On the plus side, the PAs are absolutely creative and delivered with more and more style.

And when one of the people who has departs doesn't comment on a thread, one of said extremists has a new weapon! "How come the liberals/conservatives aren't commenting on this thread? Why are they outraged over X but not over this kitten slaughter? Clearly they SUPPORT kitten slaughter!"

:D:D:D:D

Don't make me go all "Bonfire" on you.>:(

fine, you asked for it - Skydivers are SWELL. I think a woman's personality is the sexiest part of her body. Nice people ROCK!!!

I'm sorry, that hurt me more than it hurt you.

I for one support kitten slaughter, it creates jobs and, heck, we can't just keep paying for room, board, and nintendo for homeless kittens. It would create a dependent class.

Amazon claims to be a moderate, and she posts here a lot, so your theory must be wrong.

I am.. but by your definitions of what is moderate today.... since you are SO FUCKING far to the right that Ghengis Khan would be a moderate.

my kid's 22, so I don't have to think of the children. In fact, he's old enough to drink your booze :D

Man, I love these pinball threads

well, that deaf, dumb, blind kid sure plays a mean one. If you know what I mean;). And I think you do.

If your son wants, we'll share our sangria with him, but only if he promises to have a little angst with it.

Sebazz - I didn't even bother bringing my rig this last trip. When's the raining stop anyway?

I'm not sure who you consider to be the "moderates"; if they're the people who post completely inane bonfire-esque fluff here, or those who think apathy is cool, or those that believe they're so moderate that they're too good to contribute something meaningful or state a real opinion, they've been posting a lot less, and that's not a bad thing in my book.

As far as PA's go, I don't see a whole lot of that. Perhaps my interpretation of a PA is different. I do see heaps of sniping here though, I suppose that detracts from the exchange. One thing I do know is that this is amateur political exchange -- most of us here are not economists, public policy experts, theologians, etc. and because of that, you end up with a lot of invective and hyperbole here. I don't take this forum seriously enough to expect otherwise, and I doubt you do either.

Regarding the extremist types, I think they are the ones who make this forum entertaining, so long as things don't get personal. I've resigned to the fact that people will keep the opinions they have no matter what facts may be presented to them, and that's fine. I enjoy having a place to air my opinion, and this is actually a heck of a lot more civil than craigslist discussion forums or Yahoo political chat rooms. I try to keep an open mind, and though I can't say that many of my opinions have shifted, I thought John Rich's thread about bottled water was an eye-opener. Since I read that, I've been drinking a whole lot less of Poland Spring.

As far as the "THREAD" goes, I think it belongs in the bonfire, it's like an inside joke that's beaten to death and just isn't funny -- and hasn't been, in ages. Glad to see it on the second page these days...

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

***Sebazz - I didn't even bother bringing my rig this last trip. When's the raining stop anyway?*** When I worked in Monterey several years ago and the tandem student's would ask "when's the fog going to clear?" I would say "oh probably within the next hour:ph34r::D" I was lying of course. This rain this rain is never going to stop but when it does it will be so very beautiful and green here in nor cal. I have two rigs now so when you is in town and it does clear, let me know...

Here's to a new moderately based speakers corner and a moderately based US... B| Cheers!

Your post absolutely nailed it. And, if the sniping would settle down (things get personal it started only a couple months back) this is the best forum on the site by far.

As far as 'apathy' or 'bonfire-esque' content, I think it's more 'mockery' of the sniping that comes out when the usuals get off the topic and just start poking at each other. Either way, the thread is dead, so the mockery adds a bit of fun and helps it die a bit quicker.

Speaker's Corner sucks.

And to think I used to enjoy this place. I have changed my address to Bonfire. Silliness is much better.

And to think......

What would life be like when Pj and AC no longer contributed....

It's like the kindergarden teachers have given up on the class....
