Soylent Green is here...

Recommended Posts

In the 1972 sci-fi movie "Soylent Green", on a vastly overpopulated Earth of the future, a police detective finds himself marked for murder by the government when he discovers a state secret involving the origins of a new foodstuff called "soylent green". The detective discovers that soylent green is made out of recycled human beings...

And now comes this news from today's Earth:
Cosmetics firm using remains of executed Chinese

Chinese cosmetics company has been using skin taken from the bodies of executed convicts to develop beauty products for sale in Europe, a London newspaper reported.

The agent said that the use of skin from condemned convicts was “traditional" and nothing to “make such a big fuss about.“

China executed about 3,400 prisoners last year...

Hey, John, just yesterday I posted a similar item about the Chinese selling organs of executed prisoners for transplants. That article put the number of executions at about 8,000 yearly.

The people who replied didn't seem to care much.:|

I don't know about that - a lampshade requires a lot of skin, and they would have to increase the number of arrests, convictions and executions. It could overburden the police, "justice" and prison systems. And they would have to quit torturing the prisoners, too, as that leaves unsightly scars.

I'm having an image of Ricardo Montelban doing automobile advertisements touting how they are upholstered in "rich Corinthian Chinese leather"...

I recall, how Mr. Montalban, would tout 'Corinthian' leather in those Chrysler ads. 'Corinthian leather', was something he came-up with. There is no such thing. He thought it 'sounded' better than to say 'leather upholstry'.

"Hey baby, what's that new color of lipstick you are wearing?"

"General Tso!"

"Ummmm. . .How about just a back rub tonight?"

Sorry, Chuck, I admit I was being coy, and in doing so, I was being vague.
I was referring to the historical example of it (the lampshades thing) being done during the Holocaust.

That's O.K. I have 'brain-farts', too. Everybody does, for that matter. I know now what you are referring to. I recall, reading something about that when I was a kid. Then too, we don't hear about 'everything' that goes-on in this world.
Thank you, for starightening that out.

Since the state runs everything in Chinese government, the Chinese government is selling corpses to cosmetics companies??

We should DEFINITELY trust these guys with our weapons secrets... and there's NO QUESTION we can count on their ethics in defending Iran's nuke program... :S

Wish I could live long enough to watch all this play out....
Oh, hello again!
