That is not the long standing US defense policy of the last 5 presidents and also is a defeatest policy. What kind of proof should we have? And are you saying that it's defeatist to feel that way, or that other presidents did (or didn't?). I really don't know. Helen Thomas is by no means perfect, but she has studied and covered presidents since 1960. She probably knows some stuff.
