kallend 2,175 #3 March 11, 2006 QuoteSo you can IMAGINE what they do in private. We need more people the Lt. Cmdr. Bush____________________ It's stupid on many levels: All the information is available in the news media anyway and they've simply drawn attention to it. Any pilot could figure it out for him(her)self in a couple of minutes or less. AOPA and the air traffic controllers have been making the same points for months. It reinforces the accurate perception that this government is obsessed with secrecy and withholds information from the people.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. ViperPilot 0 #4 March 11, 2006 Well the govt has been forced more and more to secrecy b/c of terrorism...I don't blame them for some stuff. However, yes it's ridiculous to take this off when all the info is available anyways. Standard bureaucratic move.

However, yes it's ridiculous to take this off when all the info is available anyways. Standard bureaucratic move. From the AOPA president today: "It was nothing more than what had already been pointed out by literally thousands of Americans, including many active-duty military officers, in their written comments. "Anyone with a sectional chart and E6B can figure out how long it would take a Mooney to fly from Dulles to downtown Washington." I guess my plane (which is a Mooney) will have its performance classified if the government has its way! Wouldn't want the pilot to know how long it takes to fly to Washington DC.... ViperPilot 0 #6 March 11, 2006 True, and thankfully once they classify the information you won't be able to accurately know how long it'll take.

Do you think they'll prosecute me if I make a clandestine copy of the POH?... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. ViperPilot 0 #8 March 12, 2006 Dude, be real careful w/ that...you're getting into some scary shit. Aftering doing something like copying a POH, even if it's just a photocopy of the weight and balance charts, you'll first see a "Harry's Pizza" van outside for a few days, then on the third night, you won't even hear it coming...you're death will be ruled "natural causes." champu 1 #13 March 13, 2006 All he did was mention how long it would take to get to downtown from an aborted approach to Dulles? Who cares? I can see getting upset if he had started rattling off response times of fighters that might be scrambled in such a scenario, but this? c'mon.

Methinks some government wonks have been watching a few too many episodes of "24" and not going to enough "Aviation Overview for Non-Pilots" seminars.
