sfzombie13 324 #3 March 3, 2006 can ya actually say you're a jew if you weren't raised as one? granted, i don't know you, but it kinda sounds like you weren't versed in the religion, just born of jewish parents. does it work that way? of course, religion is all about belief anyway, so don't let me bust your bubble. if you wanna be a jew, go for it, i say. good for you. one more thing: is calling someone a jew an insult? i don't want to insult you, so if it is, please don't take it as one, just an ignorant comment._________________________________________ Si hoc legere scis nimium eruditionis habes
wmw999 2,589 #4 March 3, 2006 Judaism is a tribal religion in many ways, and, in fact, being Jewish passes through the mother. So if your mother was Jewish, you are considered Jewish within the religion. Not practicing, but for the purposes of "marrying within" you're OK (e.g. there are rules in orthodox Judaism against marrying out) It's way more different in some ways from Christianity than most Christians think. At least that's what I hear Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence.
