Channman 2 #1 February 20, 2006 Newsweek and Time will start us all off with another week of Whining from our Fourth Banch of Government our National News Media Vs Dick Cheney in "Cheney's Secret World" and "Sticking to His Guns". And these people seem to think its all about them. CNN's Candy Crowley's response, "The perception is that we're whining", no kidding, she pulled that out of her ass and was right. Washingto Post reporter Dana Milbank fretted that the White House is exploiting the public's growing disdain for the mainstream media, "of course they succeed, " Milbank said of Bush's aides. "The press always looks awful. They will once again make us look awful." Only need to look into a mirror Dana, to answer that question. It's aways been best to just step out of the way and let these people eat themselves, the walking dead. This Week brought to you by those who believe they truely are our Fourth Branch of Government. Gravitymaster 0 #3 February 20, 2006 Perhaps this will help you to understand what he means. QuoteThis just in... Both TIME and NEWSWEEK are planning high impact covers of Cheney for newsstands starting tomorrow, with each magazine rolling out top staff bylines and thousands of words on the hunting incident: TIME: With deep reporting by John Cloud, Mike Allen and Matthew Cooper/ Washington, Cathy Booth Thomas and Patricia Kilday Hart/ Austin, and Hilary Hylton. NEWSWEEK urgently brings in its big investigative guns: Evan Thomas, Michael Isikoff, Daniel Klaidman, Richard Wolffe, Holly Bailey, Mark Hosenball and Eleanor Clift in Washington and Carol Rust in Texas. NEWSWEEK's Jonathan Alter essays that media budget cuts and shifting news priorities have contributed to the public being in the dark about Cheney's ways and means. TIME headlines a poll: DICK CHENEY APPROVAL RATING 29% NEWSWEEK editor Mark Whitaker defends his decision to push for another week of Cheney-Shooting coverage: "The reason we ultimately decided to stick with a cover is not because of the hunting incident itself-although we did turn up some new details that you might not have read elsewhere-but because of what it says about the mysterious world of the most powerful vice president of recent times." MORE On CNN's RELIABLE SOURCES, WASHINGTON POST reporter Dana Milbank fretted that the White House is exploiting the public's growing disdain for the mainstream media. "Of course they succeed,” Milbank said of Bush aides. “The press always looks awful. They will once again make us look awful.” CNN's Candy Crowley added: "The perception is that we're whining." White House correspondent Bill Plante of CBS agreed. "The vice president and the White House have both used the constant press coverage of this story as a wedge,” he told RELIABLE SOURCES host Howard Kurtz. “It plays to the prejudices of the people who are predisposed not to like us, and it's one way to distract attention from what happened.” Get it now? ViperPilot 0 #4 February 20, 2006 The press is complaining about the White House making them look like idiots when in fact they just outright say what the problem is...they're making themselves look like idiots. Their smear campaigns and bs whining is dropping them farther down the todem poll with Americans and they want to blame someone else for it.
kelpdiver 2 #5 February 20, 2006 what looks more idiotic than shooting a buddy in the chest? It's true, the WH and the press don't really like each other, and one side has something to run with, so they will. Ultimately Time wants to sell copies - if this story does, they've won. TrophyHusband 0 #6 February 20, 2006 Quotewhat looks more idiotic than shooting a buddy in the chest? press that puts more emphasis on the way the info was released rather than the info itself. the arrogant cocksuckers in the national media have their panties in a wad because the story was given to a local newspaper 24 hours after the incident. kelpdiver 2 #7 February 21, 2006 those details are secondary. Though had the Administration not had a long history of this sort of behavior (just like the former President), it might have blown over sooner. and sorry, shooting the buddy comes out well ahead. Channman 2 #8 February 21, 2006 > the national media have their panties in a wad because the story was given to a local newspaper 24 hours after the incident. I myself would like to see the administration begin releasing breaking news to the local media outlets and bypass the National News media altogether. Talking about getting their pantie in a wad, when they begin to realize they've been benched.
TrophyHusband 0 #9 February 21, 2006 that would be funny. maybe they could randomly draw the name of a small town paper out of a hat when they had something to release. another thing they could do is hold a press conference and say "we will release info when we want, when we want, and to whoever we want. if you don't like it, you can kiss our ass. thank you. good bye." the national media would throw such a fucking hissy fit that the administration could anything they wanted for about two weeks and it would go unnoticed. kelpdiver 2 #10 February 21, 2006 great until they want to use the media for their own needs - intentional leaks, trial balloons, you name it. For all the whining, the Administration needs the press. It just wishes it could manage it as well as it did during the wartime phase of Iraq.
TrophyHusband 0 #11 February 22, 2006 at this point it doesn't really matter, this administration gets viciously attacked for everything they do so they might as well tell them to fuck off. what have they got to lose? at the very least it would be funny.
