rushmc 23 #1 February 17, 2006 Saddam Translator: ABC Reinterpreted Tapes The FBI translator who supplied the 12 hours of Saddam Hussein audiotapes excerpted by ABC's "Nightline" Wednesday night now says the network discarded his translations and went with a less threatening version of the Iraqi dictator's comments. "What you heard on ABC News was their translation," former U.N. weapons inspector Bill Tierney told ABC Radio's Sean Hannity on Thursday. "They came up with something different on a key element regarding terrorism in the United States," Tierney insisted. In the "Nightline" version of the 1996 recording, Saddam predicts that Washington, D.C., would be hit by terrorists. But he adds that Iraq would have nothing to do with the attack. Tierney says, however, that what Saddam actually said was much more sinister. "He was discussing his intent to use chemical weapons against the United States and use proxies so it could not be traced back to Iraq," he told Hannity. In a passage not used by "Nightline," Tierney says Saddam declares: "Terrorism is coming. ... In the future there will be terrorism with weapons of mass destruction. What if we consider this technique, with smuggling?" And if they are going to put the tapes out there how long would a deception of this kind hold up. I offer links, articles, evaluations and I get nothing back[crazy} News organizations are using the fredom of information act to get access to 10s of thousands of captured declasified untranlated documents and tapes captured in the beginning of the war. EVIDENCE has been starting to emerg that may show SH WAS more involved than you want to believe, (but the WORLD inteligence communtiy believed) and you don't seem to care. There just might be a very good reason he is not in the FBI anymore. In other words you can hardly blame the media for trying to put a second team of translators on this. My take on this: If Bill Tierney was right I would suspect every government agency to stampede towards his home to sign him on and get the story out. As it stands he is left with presenting his "evidence" at non-governmental meeting. In other words. The pros won't listen to him, so he takes it to the amateurs. There is nothing wrong with being an amateur. However, his take on all this is exactly what would make the present administration look good. Why aren't they all over this?
