unformed 0 #1 February 16, 2006 There are times in the life of a forum when it must deal with the sub-bridge creatures known as Trolls. On the internet, they do not live under the bridge, and they do not eat billy goats. They generally do something much more despicable. They disrupt the natural flow of conversation between humans by making comments that cause various levels of discord. However, there are times in the lives of trolls, that a troll* can also be highly entertaining, especially if there are those who fully believe that the troll is an actual post rather than one for the whole purpose of experimentation.** My question to you, is the potentiality of entertainment enough to warrant the risk of disrupting regular forum-speak? Or should all trolls be banished to the depths of under the bridge? *Editor's Note: For the record, a troll can be a either the person causing the disruption, or the act of disruption itself. Hence, a troll may create a troll. **In its scientific form, trolling can be described as a breaching experiment, which, because of the use of an alternate persona, allows for normal social boundaries and rules of etiquette to be tested or otherwise broken, without serious consequences. This ad space for sale.
