PhreeZone 20 #1 February 6, 2006 I was watching a bit of Meet the Press last night flipping the channels and I saw new Majority Leader Boehner was the featured guest. I happened to tune in about the time he was asked the question of the title of this thread. Watching his answer I came away with my impression on Boehner. Anyone have any thoughts on what should be done if Delay returns to seek the position? Should Boehner keep it and fight for it or should he step down and allow Delay to reclaim his former position?Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
wmw999 2,588 #2 February 6, 2006 Well, knowing Tom Delay as my representative, and having heard your description of Boehner, I'd like to see the ugliest knock-down drag-out name-calling fight possible, to remove whatever dignity and credibility either of them might have had. The right thing would probably be for Boehner to gracefully step down. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
tbrown 26 #3 February 6, 2006 As I don't like either of them, I won't take sides. But the House leadership made the decision to move on and choose a new floor leader because things weren't getting done. Having to change it all again would just throw another wrench in the gears. So right or wrong, as a practical matter, I don't think it will happen. Your humble servant.....Professor Gravity !

PhreeZone 20 #5 February 6, 2006 What I thought was laughable was Delay recieved $5000 from Boehner's Leadership PAC to assit in legal fees. Oh, and Boehner's answer was he would not step down.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

Seems more practical to keep him if they maintain control in the fall election. And if not, well, maybe he didn't earn the right to stay on as the Minority Leader. Quote Oh, and Boehner's answer was he would not step down. Not exactly. What he said was, "We'll have a talk". But I'm inclined to agree with your interpretation.
