SANTA FE (Jan. 30) - Burglars who took 20 rifles from the Santa Fe High School's ROTC program won't be able to do much with them.

The ROTC program uses the rifles in drills and ceremonies, but "they're almost like props," Deputy Police Chief Eric Johnson said. "There's nothing they can do to make them work again. They're really no good to anyone but the ROTC unit."

The rifles were taken Saturday by someone who entered through a roof hatch, Johnson said. The burglars first tried to get in through a heating vent, leaving $2,000 in damage, he said.

The burglary was reported by an ROTC commander who arrived on campus Saturday morning to prepare for an ROTC competition in Farmington later that day.

There was a man in Waterloo Iowa this week that broke into two womens aprartment (do do what I do not know but) they were home at the time. They confronted him in the kitchen, putting him in the hospital, in critical condition, from multiple stab wounds from kitchen knives.

Maybe he’s not so dumb, if the rifles were X-GI, demiled military rifles like M-1917 , M-1903 or M-1. The parts can be worth a couple of hundred bucks per rifle.

This one reminds me of my stupid neighbors who keep trying to come into my apartment almost every night. Hello.....I have a Belgian Malinois and a German Shepherd do you really think they will let you step a foot into the house even if I was stupid enough to forget to lock my door.
