jumper03 0 #1 January 27, 2006 BBandT just earned my business. They are one of the larger banks here in the southeast and they released a statement a few days ago saying they would NOT loan money to any business that intends to use land siezed under the new eminent domain laws.... HELL YEAH!Scars remind us that the past is real

peacefuljeffrey 0 #3 January 28, 2006 I read that last night and I almost posted about it, myself! It was gratifying to read quotes by those in charge of the business, saying that they disagree with the court's (bogus) interpretation of the constitutionality of the eminent domain laws and their application. They essentially said, "It's wrong to take property from private individuals under eminent domain and then let private developers profit from it." This is the kind of thing that heartens me. It's rarer and rarer these days, though. It occurs to me that if people in the 1700s or 1800s had tried what the courts have done in these recent cases, they would have been tarred-and-feathered, hanged, or both. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... HELL YEAH! That is really great to hear that a company takes such a strong position on such a wrong law. I'm happy to say I have several accounts thru BB&T. They will continue to be one of my banks. Now if we can just get the SCOTUS to reverse themselves on this dumb decision. There was a guy who was trying to get the local govt. to seize Souters farm with an E.D. claim and turn it into a Bed and Breakfast. Anyone heard the latest? Anyone heard the latest? They want to name it the Lost Liberty Inn or something like that. The guy's statement in the paper was that they want to make sure that those in government actually have to live under the same laws they force on the rest of us. This is one way to do it. --Jeffrey "With tha thoughts of a militant mind... Hard line, hard line after hard line!"
