OK, I am a man. When I entered puberty I found myself attracted to girls, not boys.

I didn't choose it. I didn't sit down & intellectually decide to be a heterosexual because it is more moral.

So if it a homosexual orientation is not any more of a choice than a heterosexual orientation, how can it be a matter of morality?

I will concede that at least in the Catholic church, homosexuality orientation itself (non-practicing) is not considered sinful. I am not so familiar with the intracicies of the various Protestant denominations, but I suspect many of them may agree..


Anyway, on another note: There are many heterosexuals, male & female, who have had sex with others with whom they had no intention of marrying, or having children with (usually using contraception to keep it from happening). Are they not in the same boat as homosexuals?

So why all the emphasis on slamming homos if the purpose of sex is only to pop out babies???

Because if right wing activists accept that it's NOT a choice, that it's part of their genetic makeup/brain chemistry, then denying them rights is akin to denying blacks rights. If it IS a choice, then it's not nearly so bad. You could compare it to denying smoker's rights by making them smoke outside.

It's an end-justifies-the-means thing. If people who wish to deny rights to gays can 'prove' it is a choice and is not inherent to them, then their job becomes easier.

I just saw a report on CNN about Elton John and his new husband that just used the new law in the UK to enter into a civil union.

The Right ALSO loves to claim that the homosexual agenda wants to secure SPECIAL RIGHTS for themselves. Yeah those special right of not to be beaten to death for being what they are. The right to have a family recognized by the state.

When I lived in Oregon the Oregon Citizens Alliance kept putting measures on the ballot over and over and over to deny SPECIAL RIGHTS to the homosexuals. The people of Oregon kept voting it down. Basically its a rallying cry for tthe right so they can raise money from their base in the religious community and make a nice living for themselves. Lon Mabon lived quite well with donations from the people who disdained the queers so much that they would support him in a lifestyle he grew accustomed to.. hey its a good scam if you can run it.
