You cannot be sure that anything you do is not being watched. Phones, email, faxes are all subject to snooping without warrant. Anything you say on a walkie talkie is subject to snooping. Your web browsing is subject to snooping. Your ATM use, credit card use, ... all subject to snooping by the government. If you have a recent cell phone (with E-911) the government can know your exact whereabouts at all times, no warrant needed. Around here you need to drive on toll roads to get around much- and unless you have a transponder in your car you have to pay double. Cameras being installed on most city streets, with face recognition software. Cameras in airports, train stations, bus stations... Cameras on the interstates to catch speeders (but incidentally can identify your license plate for the government if they want). Cameras in sports stadiums watching the crowd. Govt. using infra-red cameras to see if you have heat lamps in your house. Big Brother really is here and now, and WE (collectively) go along like sheep. Many of YOU even defend and embrace it. Where did I ever say TIA didn't have anything to do with spying on citizens? Why do you think the govt. has the desire or even the resources to spy on citizens without justification? Heck, after 9/11 it came out they didn't even have the resources to spy on terrorists. Sounding pretty neurotic to me. Oh, on Poindexter. I really don't understand why he was hired. He was the Senior VP for Syntek and consulted on DARPA. I don't know why he was chosen, but I will concede he probably wasn't the best choice at least in a political sense. OTOH there may have been reasons such as his experience in software management, but I haven't been able to discover why he specifically chosen.
