They have no more to do with the Godfather of Soul than James Brown has to do with Tookie Williams. But they're both pretty bad dudes.

Well, Rader did have a long history of civic and church leadership roles. He was even a Cub Scout leader. He's done a lot of good things for the community, and should be allowed to continue doing positive work for the community.

No, I don't think it's a white people thing...maybe it's because neither of them got the death penalty.

The GRK pled guilty in exchange for LWOPing and identification/location of his victims. It caused an uproar (an understatement at best), but the loophole is that if there is one single death he caused which he didn't confess to, he can be tried and put to death for that.

I believe the same thing happened to BTK (Bind, Torture, Kill)...he got LWOPed and not the death penalty. I'm not sure of the terms of his plea deal, so can't codicil it the same way as the GRK.

I do believe that was Wendy's intention...I might be wrong, but I don't think it has much to do with the white/black thing.

Partly it was the whole "evil people" thing; somehow something was icky about adding James Brown to the thread.

Someone had mentioned GRK, and the first web page I saw when I went looking for a picture of him mentioned BTK. But yes, they are both far more like Tookie Williams than James Brown ever thought of being.
