Another Federal Misinfomercial

Recommended Posts

Watching TV the other day and an anti marijuana propaganda piece comes on the screen, courtesy of your tax dollars. The piece goes as such; "Hey Jane did you hear about Sarah? She got HIV.".
Jane, "I heard. She smoked pot and had sex.". The piece goes on to state that if you don't smoke pot you won't get AIDS. What kind of message is this sending the kids? Smoking pot is the cause of HIV/AIDS? Some kids may take this as saying "as long as I do not smoke pot, I can have sex and not worry about AIDS". Are kids really so stupid that they will buy into such a blatant scare tactic that has been used in the past and failed. Or, is it that the Federal government is hoping to brainwash another generation as they come of age.
There is very little truth in what is coming out of Washington, D.C.. Most notedly, the Whitehouse.
What should be said is the truth. That is all anyone needs to hear.
The Federal war on marijuana has cost billions upon billions of dollars. Far more than they are willing to spend on educating the public on AIDS/HIV. As new HIV infections and deaths started an upward climb a few years back, one would think that more would had been done to fight this. Not one thing to stop the climb was done. The most they could do is to make a false connection that states that smoking marijuana leads to AIDS/HIV.
I for one would like the truth for once. I would rather see my taxes being used in a positve manner. But asking for truth is a Federal offense and could lead to an investigation. This government is at war with everyone and everything. Or, so it seems. And, it seems that they do not like to admit defeat. The Federal goverment will continue on in its errant ways. There is no real check and balance. And it is appearant in the war on marijuana and all the other so called "wars" that the Federal government as started with no exit plan in hand.

When you're out of the blue and into the black."

The video on the site never said anything about Pot. Unless they have another one out there, it is just about drug use in general making you judgment cloudy and making it easy to catch HIV.

drugabuse.gov goes into more of HIV being passed by needle or through prostution due to crack than weed.

Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Hmmm... I'd really love to see the comercial in question before making an informed comment.:)

Wait a minute!!! This is Speakers Corner!>:(

It seems from the post that the advert claims a CAUSAL link between drug abuse and Aids, rather than (correctly) warning of an increased risk of contracting HIV as a result of differing behaviour and associations as a consequence of being within the Drugs subculture.

Then again, maybe they had to get the message across in a way that the MEDIAN American (Homer Simpson) would understand. Hence...: If You Do it, then BITS OF YOUR BODY WILL FALL OFF!!!

weed/pot is actually a drug that generally does not make you do things you would not do sober. But government "info" campaigns doesn't seem to care much about truth, at least where I come from, and seemingly that is the case in the USA as well.

I don't know if most people actually believes the crap over there, but here the only thing we generally know about anti drug propaganda is that most of it is bullshit. And the remaining part drowns in the bullshit.
