Oh yeah, even more different looking money of the same value and legitimacy to even further confuse visitors!

Then there's Northern Ireland notes and money from the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands. :)
Plus most of our coins have some form of commemorative significance so at any one time you might have upwards of half a dozen completely different £1 coins in your pocket.

(right now I have two trees with a crown, the Forth Bridge, the Royal coat of arms and a Celtic ring).

And at one point . . . the Royal familiy actually -did- own the economy so that makes sense.

What doesn't make sense is "Hello Kitty" on the Euro!?!? Are they serious?

Um... well your link you posted does say "the mouthless cat turned global icon of cuteness". Is there something wrong with using a "global icon of cuteness" on a commemorative $60 coin which no one's going to spend?

Really? I got:

"US actor Mark Schneider who plays Napoleon Bonaparte poses on his horse near the South Moravian city of Slavkov during the re-enactment of Napoleon's 1805 Battle of Austerlitz in which French troops crushed the armies of Austria and Russia" when I clicked on it. Seems to change during the course of the day.
