I guess we have to boycott O'Reilly

Recommended Posts

Recently O'Reilly called for a boycott of stores that refuse to refer to the holiday as "christmas" and use "happy holidays" or whatever, all part of his 'Christmas Crusade.'

Ironically, here's how his christmas ornaments are advertised on FOX (see attachement.) By his rules I suppose we should boycott FOX.

I swear, it's almost like you look at any right-wing commentator, and they're pretty much guaranteed to be doing EXACTLY what they rail against. Rail against loser drugheads? It will turn out they're abusing prescription painkillers. Take a stand againt homosexualty? They'll be hitting on men on gay.com. Lambast the morality of liberals? It will turn out they were once a prostitute.

Hmm, I wonder if gay men have figured out what a dating opportunity the RNC could be?

Yup - can't even tell the difference between far right wingers and activist liberals, now.

Turns out they are all just the same.

Ack...pet peeve time. Do you know how often I hear Republican supporters in this room rail against "the lefties" and "liberals" while they're being referred to as "conservatives" and "the far right"?

I agree with you that they are the same (mostly, but not completely). Can you agree that Democrats and Republicans are both leftist liberals?

haha...I'm glad I am not the only one that missed that. I was listening to his show last night...heard him talk about the "lists" he is making on his site. Then it went right to his commercial pimping his Xmas No Spin stuff. Irony ftw!

no, but I can agree that it's hard to tell the difference between the activist extremes on both sides

As far as your pet peeve - not just a knee jerk reply, but something I feel rather strongly about - it's why I'm more impressed with the quiet types that walk their talk and don't make a big deal about it

Loudmouth anti-gay types have closet lovers of the same sex
Loudmouth anti-druggers OD on pain pills
etc(Bill's list was excellent for one side of the aisle - he's good at that)

Loudmouth anti-gun types have armed guards or automatics in the trunk
Loudmouth environmentalists driving their fleet of SUVs on their ranch
Loudmouth "Save the starving people" types discussing it at their extensive dinner parties
Anti-development types with their big house in the woods
Al Franken complaining about people not having talent
etc

I have more for both political sides, I wouldn't have commented at all except BV was specifically partisan in it

same as far as I'm concerned -

OK, so I take it you are refering to Limbaugh, and the mayor from Spokane maybe? Who was the third? (the prostitute)

I do not disagree with you, just trying to figure out who you are talking about.

(Standard SC disclaimer - there are silly commentators on both ends of the political spectrum.)

(Standard SudsyFist disclaimer - the political spectrum is multidimensional. Linear categorization is almost as bad as binary.)

Of course. But many people can't process more than one dimension. Look at how many oeople could not see terrorists as "brave" because "brave" must be on the "good" end of the spectrum.

There comes a point where the cost of kid-glove-handling outweighs the benefit. Let's let 'em sink or swim. :)

Seems like the democrats want to tell you how to spend your money, mainly by taking it and spending it for you, but adopted a more open philosophy of personal freedoms such as abortion, gay marriage, etc.... Republicans used to want to let you keep your money, but legislate your morality. Now, given all the spending they've been doing, it seems like they're more fiscally liberal than those they brand "liberal"

I finally gave up on both parties and registered Libertarian... keep your money AND keep government out of your life as much as possible. I like that idea.

Ditto. The Democrats want to take your money and spend it on welfare programs for individuals. The Republicans want to take your money and spend it on welfare programs for corporations. The Democrats want to regulate who you can hire, what weapons you are allowed to own, and how you should protect the environmental cause du jour. The Republicans want to regulate what you can do with your own body (e.g. drug use, abortion, euthanasia, etc), according to the wishes of their Christian constituency, while keeping protections in place for their corporate identity. Both parties want to take money from the majority of us and seriously infringe on the quality and quantity of our freedoms. Like you, I've started voting Libertarian (with notable exceptions for the very rare open-minded, intelligent members of the major parties).

For some reason or another this post really struck my funny bone, then it resonated and I laughed out loud. Organizational dysfunction tends to affect me that way I guess.

I believe they have (gay women too): http://online.logcabin.org/. It wouldn’t surprise me to learn that Heston has peeked into the windows of the cabin a few times, you know, just to monitor the subversive types.

Now please serve it up on the leftists for variety’s sake, there’s hypocrisy aplenty all-around, Streisand arriving with her motorcade at a rally against greenhouse gases will get me laughing every time …

Tell the libertarians to drop the party lines of completely open borders, completely unrestricted immigration, completely unrestricted and unregulated trading with other countries, and a few of their other really fucking horrible ideas and I just might go along with you.

I always knew you were a right-winger at heart Bill, posting as a lefty here in the forums as an intellectual diversion. Glad to see you've finally come clean. I'll drink a sip of Patron AND Herradura in your honor this evening.

Did you actually check out Fox News before posting this or did you just pass it along?

Did you actually check out ALL of Fox news before posting this, or did you jump to conclusions?

Type "holiday ornament" in the search bar on their page. I'd post a link, but it doesn't work. Probably why Bill posted the .jpg instead.

Why would I check out all of Fox? I went to the store and scanned the merchandise till I found the page I linked to.

Piss off. I just asked if he actually saw the graphic on Fox or if he passed along something he was sent by email or from another website. I wanted to know if Fox had changed it.
