dustin19d 0 #1 November 24, 2005 Bought a civilian model Rem 700 for personal use because the M-24 I use in the Army is built around the Rem 700 Action. Even the civilian model I bought(Heavy barrel) shoots groups the size of my ass hole at 200M I have a Leupold Mk 4 4.5-14 Power scope on it. What do you use? kbordson 8 #2 November 24, 2005 QuoteWhat do you use? Versions of Rem 700 (both M24 style and M40A3 style), and AI. In a variety of caliber (Lapua and .308). Glass varies from Leupold M4A3 10x, Unertal 10x Marine, Nightforce NXS and Schmidt and Bender. Mostly custom stuffs.... it helps having a personal gunsmith.Karen

I'm NOT going to fuck with her. p.s Dave, both a Dillon 650XL and a RCBS Rock chucker... but I haven't reloaded myself in a year or two.
dustin19d 0 #6 November 24, 2005 Dustin Peregrin 1462 Sandalwood Dr #E Colorado Springs, CO 80916. Send em my way and I'll give you that nod. Im suckin because there aren't any ranges other than Pay to shoot that are longer than 200m. Id like to compare this 700 to my M24 at 800m-1000m Unfortunately Im not suposed to take Personal weapons on military ranges but I just might. We have a great 1000m i unknown distance range here. dustin19d 0 #7 November 24, 2005 I've never reloaded but want to. Right now I pay $24 for 20 good .308 rounds
AggieDave 6 #8 November 24, 2005 Same here, except for the .308, I don't have anything in that right now. I figured about $500 to get all the little things I want to put a proper progressive setup together and get some supplies, and shooting .45 I would make that back fairly quick. I figured up the cost break down and break even point, but don't remember how many rounds that was. It wasn't many rounds at all.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
dustin19d 0 #9 November 24, 2005 I shoot a lot of .45 ACP myself at $13 per 50 rounds. And the acuracy on the cheap .45 sucks. I go through per month Aprox: .223 X 300 .45 X 400 30-30 X 40 .308 X 80 thats a lot of $ Lookin to add 30-06 to that when I get my M-1 Garand I'd love to get all the equipment to load my own rounds. It would save me a bundle over the long road.

JohnRich 4 #18 November 25, 2005 I shoot an M1A rifle for the long distances, .308 caliber. Ammo: reloads, using 175 gr. Sierra HPBTM bullets, IMR 4895 powder @ 42.0 grains. Good commercial ammo I see people using is the same bullet in Federal Gold Medal, or HSM (The Hunting Shack). QuoteOnly was there once several years ago, but there is a range off Hwy 6 just west of Houston that has a range at 600 yards. Do have to pay, at the time $5.00 per gun. That's the American Shooting Center off of Westheimer, in the Addicks Reservoir. The per-gun fee is now $7, but there's no time limit - pay your $7 and shoot all day. If you want to shoot beyond 200 yards there, you have to prove to them that you can shoot one-minute groups. Once you do that, they qualify you to go for the longer distances. You can also join Bayou Rifle Club, which has a range just 8 miles north of Skydive Spaceland, with ranges out to 1,000 yards. QuoteFN/LAR (heavy barrel)........Weaver 2.5X10.......Federal Gold Medal Match .308 168gr bthp The 175 gr. bullets are supposed to better than the 168's beyond 600 yards. They retain their velocity better, and are more likely to get to 1,000 yards while still supersonic, than the 168's.
rickjump1 0 #19 November 26, 2005 I'm hunting with a new Browning .270 WSM A Bolt Stalker w/ leupold 4.5x14. Got to get some dies; expensive ammo. Plink with a Savage hmr.17 w/bull barrel and a cheapo simmons 3x9. The Savage was made in Canada. I felt like I bought a Buick with a Chevy motor except it's a nice rifle. After hunting season, I want to see what the browning will do. Got room on the place to shoot if you come through Arkansas or anyone.Do your part for global warming: ban beans and hold all popcorn farts.
