Gawain 0 #1 November 19, 2005 I found this to be a very interesting essay. It only touches on part of the trip, and there are only a few pictures, but on the whole, what an experience. A western woman, on her own, in Iran. I wouldn't envy the position. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,176045,00.htmlSo I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! miked10270 0 #2 November 19, 2005 Fascinating article. It seems to me that Kellog DID enjoy her time in Iran (apart from the shopping - now there's a rare woman), and even while America & Iran are about 3 steps from war, actual, real Americans & Iranians are instinctively friendly and hospitable toward one another. It certainly provides food for thought next time you see a crown of irate foreigners burning US flags on TV; "American? Welcome to Iran! How are you? Is this your first time here? I hope you will like it and your trip will be successful." Then off to burn a few a few more Imperialist Pig-Dog rags!!! It was put perfectly by an Iranian who hated "America" for it's foreign policy & actions, yet liked Americans as people! Of course, the latest research showing that America was named after a Welshman explains a lot to folk who have experience of the Welsh! Mike. Taking the piss out of the FrenchAmericans since before it was fashionable. Prenait la pisse hors du FrançaisCanadiens méridionaux puisqu'avant lui à la mode. NWFlyer 2 #3 November 19, 2005 Cool article. If you want to read more about a western woman's experience in Iran, try Honeymoon in Purdah. Some differences - she's a Canadian woman, and she's traveling with a male friend (to whom she pretends to be married), but you still get a good taste of the experience of a western woman there. Another good one about women in Iran is Reading Lolita in Tehran."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. O'Rourke
