EricTheRed 0 #1 November 11, 2005 I came accross the quoted material below on an unrelated search, thought it would be good for stirring the pot here. Quotein multiple studies, there is a negative correlation between theism and morality. By Franzblau's 1934 study, there's a negative correlation between religiousity and honesty. Ross 1950 shows atheists and agnostics are more likely to express their willingness to help the poor than the deeply religious. 1969 Hirschi and Stark found no correlation in lawbreaking by churchgoing children and non-churchgoing children I'm too busy (no really I am) to track down the citations but it came from http://www.objectivethought.com/atheism/iqstats.html So if being religious doesn't make one honest, moral or more likely to be law abiding, what's the point?illegible usually

Amazon 7 #3 November 11, 2005 QuoteSo if being religious doesn't make one honest, moral or more likely to be law abiding, what's the point? It gives you the superiortiy of knowing you are going to heaven and everyone else is going to hell. Most of the "religious" can get away with anything they want all week long... just so long as they can go to church on Sunday in their best clothing and get absolution for all their sins during the week.
