Rookie bit on the bait....

Yes I did! I really would like to know why he thinks we should feel sorry for that boy.

It appears to me that he is against hunting for sport. Though, nowadays, deer hunting in North America is essential to keeping the population under control. I think they should loosen the regs on it.
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

you are not kidding

1 - Our state is 95%+ deer 'habitat', so crying about us taking over the habitat is just city tear jerkers who don't get it.

2 - We have a big problem of deer in the city. It's because it's cushy to come in the city - nice garbage to eat, no predators, etc. (i.e., they are attracted to the city, not driven into it. See #1) Last year, a co-worker had one jump through her front window and just destroy her 'nice' living room. Dead deer, lots of blood, family piano and the rest of the room destroyed.

3 - The normal solution - allow hunters to harvest more deer, set aside hunting periods in city boundaries for certain hunters that meet high qualifications for decision making and safety.

4 - The left wing solution - restrict people to their homes to allow people HIRED to harvest deer at over a couple thousand dollars per deer to do the same job. In otherwords, pay someone a TON to do what many would gladly pay a licensing fee to do for free.

5 - Let's not even talk about the geese.....

Mmmmmmmm.... good intentions, bad judgement once again at work in our great urban areas.

Thats awesome, I wish I had someone to take me deer hunting when I was 11. Maybe I'd be a little better at it than I am now. Wow, it's been a frustrating season (archery though), nuthin yet. Maybe tonight will be my lucky night. Congrats to you and your nephew.

Oh yeah, and 192 yards, WOW, unbelievable, especially for an 11 year old.

BTW, how long is doe season where you are?

I know in Pennsylvania they've had to increase it during the 90s due to the exploding deer population. (exploding deer...hmmm must be Al Quaeda suicide bombers :P) Since it is really the number of does, not bucks, that control the population numbers.

We've got deer all over the Maryland suburbs. In the parks where the grass is covered with deer turds,as well as right here on the Fort Detrick campus. And at the National Insitute of Standards & Technology in Gaithersburg, where you get herds of them crossing the road on your way to work. One morning while I was jogging a herd of about a dozen deer STAMPEDED. I heard them coming before I saw them (there were hills & trees & bushes in the way) so I couldn't tell what direction they were coming from. I started to climb the nearest tree, but fortunately when they arrived they ran up against a corner of a chain link fence. I don't know what had spooked them, but it scared the bejesus out of me.

I don't know what kind of rifle/scope. They have thousands of acres of wheat fields and do guided hunts as a part-time business to help support the land. Deer overpopulation is a big problem in many palces. I'm not much of a hunter, but have been thinking about the antenna towers on their land a bit lately:)
