sinker 0 #51 November 9, 2005 Quotethank god we don't live in an as fucked up country as you do then... we don't carry guns, and we don't feel the need to be as paranoid about things as you do. The average "perp" in this country isn't carrying a gun. do you think the only reason so many criminals in the states carry guns, is because its been so easy for anybody to go out and buy one? its too late for you to ban them, been too easy for too long for Joe Public to buy one.... You're already fucked, but the countries who have never had this crazy "right to bear arms" thing, hasn't had guns available to the masses, so there just aren't that many out there... yes, the minority of criminals everywhere have them, but its not as widespread as america. Once you have a "right to bear arms" you have a spiralling gun culture, you get people saying "well, i might as well have one to protect myself" and the only reason the say that is because of many years of lax gun control, enabling millions of guns to have been bought and "out there" if you're in the UK, then I'm laughing my "paranoid" american ass off at you. B/c you're crime rate is through the roof largely B/C your country will NOT allow it's people to defend itself w/ guns... and until recently wouldn't even allow people to defend themselves in their OWN HOUSES w/ any weapon from an intruder. Do you know how popular crossbows and bow and arrow sets have become in your England? Very. Wonder why? B/c civilians can't defend themselves w/ guns... violent criminals in England roam freely and w/ relative impunity knowing that they can attack just about anybody w/o the real possibility of being hurt. Think I'm paranoid? Again, I don't give a fuck. Think your country is w/o guns? Dig your head out of the sand. Your pompousness bores me. -the artist formerly known as sinker

ReBirth 0 #53 November 9, 2005 Quoteyes, the minority of criminals everywhere have them, but its not as widespread as america. Some countries have more guns than us with lower gun crime. Which only goes to show we have a problem with crime, not with guns. The main issue being lack of jail cells to incarcerate violent criminals that would use guns because they're too full of people who smoked some grass. I couldn't live w/ the thought of one of my kids getting hurt w/ my gun accidentally. if it's not on my body, it's in the safe. livendive 8 #67 November 9, 2005 QuoteQuoteWhy? What business is it of yours if I want to show a fellow gun enthusiast a firearm that is in my truck, and I do so safely and out in the parking lot? Do you have a permit to carry that thing in your truck? Would you do this in the parking lot at Wal-Mart? If not, then why at the parking lot of the dropzone? There's a time and place for everything. At the dz, what you show off is your gear and your ability to fly. Serves you right if someone breaks into your truck and takes your firearm after your narcissistic little show and tell session. I show off new toys to friends at the DZ all the time. I don't show them off to strangers in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I don't understand your apparent problem with that. Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun? (had a gun) Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun? (had a gun) Nobody'd ever get shot, 'cause everybody'd have a gun! (Makes sense!) Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun? We could go out and shoot things We could go out and shoot things We could go out and shoot things We could go out and shoot things We could go out and shoot things We could go out and shoot things We'd all feel safe, 'cause everybody'd have a gun! Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun? (had a gun) Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun? (had a gun) Everyone'd be equal, 'cause everybody'd have a gun Not me, I got me a rifle! Well hang on, if you got yourself a rifle then I wanna get me a semi-automatic weapon! You get a semi-automatic weapon and I'm gonna want an automatic weapon! You get yourself an automatic weapon, I'm gonna get a super-automatic weapon! Well if you get a super-automatic weapon, then I'm gonna get a super-duper-automatic weapon with a CD-ROM drive! If you get yourself one of those I'm gonna get a super-duper-automatic weapon with a CD-ROM drive, and a big old hard drive, and a big guitar amp ... (rambles on while the rest of the Worms sing) Wouldn't it be great if everybody had the weapon of their choice? Wouldn't it be great if everybody had the weapon of their choice? Wouldn't it be great if everybody had a gun? (Still rambling..) RhondaLea 4 #75 November 10, 2005 QuoteI show off new toys to friends at the DZ all the time. I don't show them off to strangers in the Wal-Mart parking lot. I don't understand your apparent problem with that. I think guns have their place. I don't think their place is part of a show and tell routine in any parking lot. I grew up with guns in the house. And I know firsthand the consequences of talking too much about the firearms one owns even to those one calls friends (and sometimes even family). It only takes one small error in judgment to create a huge problem. I'm not talking about the accidental discharge of a firearm, btw. The tendency to play show and tell needs to be tempered with a certain amount of good judgment and caution. Playing with (showing off) firearms in the parking lot doesn't fall into that category. But it's a matter of live and learn, I suppose, and if someone would prefer to learn from their own experience instead of experience-once-removed, so be it. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from.
