ReBirth 0 #51 November 8, 2005 As long as we're talking about tolerance, enlightenment and semantics, you all should know... ...I'm a rabid anti-semantic.
AlexCrowley 0 #52 November 8, 2005 not at all. I think it's just that some words pick up different meanings than their 'true' meaning - which tends to account for a lot of conflict on various forums - and life in general - except in person it's easier to correct fast enough that no one remembers. rehmwa 2 #54 November 8, 2005 QuoteQuoteAs, per Frenchy's note, those that want to claim that they are of the "very few ENLIGHTENED individuals" will be the first to tell you so Reading and re-reading your statement, trying to understand the syntax of it. "Per Frenchy's note" meaning I proclaimed to be enlightened? Or meaning that I stated that "enlightened" people will be the first to say so? 1 - you didn't claim a higher level of tolerance 2 - I'm the one the stated the "enlightened" are the first to point out their 'amazing' attitudes I attributed neither to you, just the phrase was copied out, it would be more fun to discuss your note in the point where stated tolerance is a 'luxury'. I also used to think digital watches were a pretty good idea. ... SudsyFist 0 #55 November 8, 2005 QuoteDo you find quietly religious types to be more sincere and, thus, actually nicer people in general? Or those that stand around trying to convert and judge everyone in sight to be more sincere. I respect the quietly religious types much more, particularly those who lead by example, conveying their message with greater effectiveness than any words could. As far as sincerity, however, despite my reacting more amicably with the former, I cannot judge the sincerity of either without knowing more about the individual. I at least accept (*snicker*) the possibility that the guy on the bullhorn could be just as sincere as the one who prefers to stay out of the limelight. Frenchy68 0 #57 November 8, 2005 QuoteI also used to think digital watches were a pretty good idea. Not nearly as good an idea as Polaroid and Video CDs. Polaroid single-handedly started the amateur porn craze. Digital cameras just took it to the next level (easy distro).

And suddenly, I fall under the weight of my own professed moralities being effectively used against me. (Mainly, I'm very consistent about trying to take people one at a time, and here you are showing me I fail in that in this case, or at least in this discussion.) Thanks, sincerely...thanks ...
