ReBirth 0 #3 November 4, 2005 There's been a continuing problem with that in NJ around AC as well. Pretty fucked up if you ask me. Guess what Vinny....I'm hoping for a Republican gov. in NJ. That state is way too far left in their policies. How about them apples?
GTAVercetti 0 #4 November 4, 2005 God dammit. When are people going to realize that not everyone WANTS money to leave a place they have been for so long? "It is a compelling story, but it is not correct because we offered far and away more than what the land value was," said City of Oakland redevelopment director Dan Vanderpriem. He acts like THIS is a valid reason. Well, we tried to buy him off but for some reason he did not want money. And really, who does not want money? Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Well, he IS a politician so you understand his perspective. Is he a dem or reb? If it's all about money, then it's rep. But I'm confused, if it's all about no one REALLY owning their own property, then he must be a dem. This is so confusing as it's both, socializing property rights for money. Finally, something both parties can get behind together. It's a brave new world people, both parties joining together to screw the individual. Normally they fight for that right. ... wmw999 2,584 #6 November 4, 2005 Sometimes the plan that will lead to the best possible development of a part of town isn't the best plan overall, for exactly this reason. It might be that having high-priced condos will revitalize the city center. But the city management doesn't own the city, its inhabitants do. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. What most people refer to when they are talking about the far left wing is communism. Surely you have heard the term "leftist pinko commie?" Much more popular than "leftist totalitarianist eminent domainer."

lawrocket 3 #17 November 4, 2005 QuotePlease tell me the last time the "most qualified" got elected president. I'm thinking Washington. Seems to me that the only "qualifications" for the job are: 1) at least 35 years old; 2) a natural born citizen USA; and 3) a resident of the USA for 14 years. I guess you could say Reagan was the most qualified of all of them. After all, he was more "at least 35" than any other president. I gotta say, though, I don't think any president so far has been the most "natural born citizen of the USA." Maybe there's been one or two who were born by C-section, in which case I guess they'd be the least natural born. Also, Reagan probably was a more of a resident of the US, since he had the longest US residency period, right? After all, he lived the longest. Ironically, there are no other qualifications listed. Oh, yeah, you've gotta win an election. I think Reagan was the biggest winner, too, back in 1984 when Fritz Mondale took Minnesota and DC. Then again, Ford didn't win an election. Neither did LBJ, his first term, at least. Looking at all of the criteria, Reagan is clearly the best qualified. He was more over the age of 35, more of a resident of the US, and the biggest winner. The least qualified is probably either Clinton (he resided in Europe for a year or two and was young when elected), Kennedy (again, less over-35 than any other POTUS and a mighty slim margin) and Ford (not elected, though pretty over-35 by the time he took office). My wife is hotter than your wife.

avenfoto 0 #24 November 5, 2005 well all is not lost...yet QuoteThe situation doesn't make sense to a lot of U.S. lawmakers either. On Thursday, the House voted to defend the rights of landowners by cutting federal funds to municipalities that seize private property for commercial development. The bill is meant to strong-arm cities into only using eminent domain only for public use projects like schools and parks, not to seize private land in the name of urban renewal. rbanfield 0 #25 November 6, 2005 Quotemisconception time again....the extreme leftie view is that everything belongs to everybody equally. The extreme rightie view is survival of the fittest, if you can take it, it's yours. Let's not forget the popular Supreme Court ruling from June of this year and how the justices voted. In the case of "Can the government take your land and hand it over to someone who can 'perhaps' make more money?" Yes, the goverment can redistribute property for no good reason: John Paul Stevens, Anthony Kennedy, David H. Souter, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer No, the government cannot redistribute land to some commercial entity so that the city can make more money: Sandra Day O'Conner, William H. Rehnquist, Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas. Clearly this was a conservative ploy . Let's paraphrase a little Limbaugh on this one: "the only thing we the people are left to do is lay down the sandbags, load up the rifles, and put grandma on the roof with a flag 'Don't Tread on Me'".
