jumpinfarmer 0 #27 October 29, 2005 A couple years ago I heard a call come in over the fire radio for a hanging in the woods on a near by farm. The caller saw the body from the interstate that runs along side the woods. At first I was a little alarmed because I'm pretty good friends with the people and they were having both family and financial trouble. It turned out that it was a dummy hanging in a tree that was left from a haunted hayride the holloween before. No one had taken it down and apparently no one noticed it all winter. Rebecca 0 #28 October 29, 2005 QuoteQuoteWell, what if you had seen it? Driving by, you probably wouldn't have gotten a good long look. You might think, "That looks really real! Too real... Surely not..." And then your mind would search for some explanation or reason that you didn't just see what you thought you saw. Maybe the whole neighborhood was rather decorated, you know, the Jones' and Smiths' out-doing each other every year... That's a perfectly reasonable explanation. It certainly would be a horrible realization, but I don't think anyone / society should be judged or blamed. This isn't a sign of the times and how de-sensitized we are. It was just some fucked-up/intentional timing and placement on the part of the deceased. i wasn't trying to blame anyone. I wasn't trying to address this at you personally - it was intended in the conversational spirit of all of the folks posting here, like we're sitting around talking, you know? I know you weren't blaming anyone. Sorry. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?
Guest #29 October 29, 2005 QuoteIts so sad that we as a race seem to have become so de-sensitive by such sites. That no body would think twice. Do you think Hollywood, the news agencies, and such, helped get us to this point?? Obviously!!!!!! Bobbi No. It's close to Halloween. Macabre stuff is seen, and basically dismissed. mh ."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
