masterblaster72 0 #1 October 11, 2005 Sign up to be contacted by the NATIONAL GUARD and get three free iTune downloads! In addition to that, they say you can get college $$$, leadership skills, and career training. Gee, who could turn that down? Young Republicans, what are you waiting for? Call now!!! Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

Ian84 0 #3 October 11, 2005 Doesn't seem so bad. What's the harm in offering incentives to join the military? The RAF reserve gives me some of the best flight training in the world and pays me for it!! That helps out a lot with my university expenses. The leadership training is second to none and that in its self would more than likely boost ones employment prospects. Seeing as I want to be a pilot when I finish uni anyway, I'm getting a pretty good deal. As long as people realize what the consequences of signing up might be then it shouldn't be a problem to advertise the benefits. Plus the booze is really cheap. Ian. tcnelson 1 #4 October 11, 2005 i spent five years in the army and i recently paid for school out of my own pocket for the first time...five years later and into my masters degree. sure, i did a bunch of stuff that sucked while i was in but, looking back, it was worth it and i learned more than i thought i did. edit: i didn't get any iTunes though..."Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329
ViperPilot 0 #5 October 11, 2005 What the shit, I didn't get free music!!!!! I got screwed. But in reality, there's nothing wrong w/ a little incentive to join the military, even if it's as pathetic as 3 songs. However, the real benefits are what you can get in terms of education paid for, healthcare, etc. Nothing wrong w/ the Guard trying to pull in some recruits. steve1 5 #6 October 11, 2005 I can't believe all the benefits and money that go along with being in the military these days. I was reading where a Navy Seal will get like $150,000. extra just to re-up. Back about a hundred years ago, when I was on active duty, in the army, I was making $96.00 a month and had little extra to go along with it. Hell, if I was young and smart I'd be joining up....Steve1
DexterBase 1 #7 October 11, 2005 Quotea Navy Seal will get like $150,000. extra just to re-up. Although that figure seems really high, there's a reason SEALs are offered big re-enlistment bonuses. Considering that (after the huge cost of training) it takes over a million dollars a year to keep a SEAL deployable, spending $50,000 to keep them from leaving and going to work for Triple Canopy or BlackWater is money well spent. Those companies are willing to spend a lot of money to get the tier 1 spec-ops guys to work for them.
steve1 5 #8 October 11, 2005 QuoteQuotea Navy Seal will get like $150,000. extra just to re-up reply] Dexter, I think that was the right amount, (that I read about in a recent magazine article.) It sounds like other special operation teams are getting the best missions in Iraq. I lot of Seals are unhappy they aren't seeing more action and want out when their tour is up....Steve1
 ReBirth 0 #9 October 11, 2005 My girlfriend joined the AF to pay for medical school.
