waltappel 1 #4 October 5, 2005 QuoteIt can make you pretty fluid... Wouldn't want to drive on it. I have taken it in the past and think of it as almost a "wonder drug". I was having problems sleeping and found that not only would it help me get a great night's sleep, but there was no drug hangover in the morning. I have never taken it when I wasn't planning on going to bed within 30 minutes or so, but I would think that doing anything but sleeping after taking Ambien would be either a waste of time or a really bad idea. okalb 104 #5 October 5, 2005 I used to take Ambien all the time. I travel a lot for work and often have trouble sleeping in hotels. I would take ambien when I had it or tylenol PM when nothing else was available. A pharmacist friend yelled at me for taking either and told me that both would cause various problems if taken long term. She suggested I take Melatonin. It is sold over the counter at just about any drug store. It is dirt cheap and works better than anything else I have taken. She and all other research I have found shows no long term problems with taking it. Supposedly it is the same chemical that your body produces naturally when you are sleeping, so taking some in pill form just gives you a little jump start. I take 3Mg about 15 minutes before bed and I am out like a light. -OKTime flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana
StreetScooby 5 #6 October 5, 2005 Quote I take 3Mg about 15 minutes before bed and I am out like a light. I'll have to try that. Ambien takes about 30 minutes to kick in. I've developed a tolerance for it, so sometimes I need a second one to "fall over the edge" (no pun intended). We are all engines of karma
okalb 104 #7 October 5, 2005 It works better than ambien and it costs about $5 for a bottle of 120 of them. It is non habit forming and doesn't have any long term negative effects. What more can you ask for.Time flies like an arrow....fruit flies like a banana

Does it seem that there is a conspiracy here to take Bonfire-type posts and put them in Speaker's Corner? I blame Bush, he's trying to soften our critical thinking. Wait, I blame the democrats, they want all the kids on drugs. No, wait, I blame the republicans, they want the drug companies to get rich. Now that's something - the Dems and Reps are in league with the big drug companies to get all the kids drugged up to emasculate boys and make all the kids more pliable to socialistic concepts all at the same time generating revenue for big business. It's a win-win situation. Or a lose-lose situation depending on how you look at it. ... freethefly 6 #10 October 5, 2005 Have never taken ambien. I am still working on a stash of Quaalude Rorer 714's that I squirreled away back in the 70's."...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Alias 0 #11 October 5, 2005 I also have a script for Ambien and agree that it is border line wonder drug. Although I took it last night and awoke at 2:00 AM then again at 4:00 Am and up since. I crashed at 10:30. I only take it a few times a month - but am afraid that switching to a non- script (melatonin) would not be effective Carpe Diem
