genoyamamoto 0 #1 October 4, 2005 Took a safety course which included range time and test firing of about 8 different handguns. I really liked the HK USP's, especially the .45. The glock was nice except for the trigger: it was just a tad bit too different for me. And the Sig .40 seemed to have more kick than the .45 USP. What do you all think? AggieDave 6 #2 October 4, 2005 The USP .45 and .40 are great weapons, they're just a bit "thick" through the upper frame and slide for my taste. I really like the safe action/decocking lever they have, though as well as the tactical version with a threaded barrel from the factory (although I have no use for that). Personally I'm a HUGE fan of the Kimber TLE/RL II Pro, HUGE fan. Then again, the Glock 17 I've put around 15,000rds through has been very good to me as well. With Sig's I'm not a big fan, they're great weapons, fun to shoot and well built, they just don't fit my hands very well... I'm going to end here, since I've had these sorts of conversations that lasted well WELL over 3 hours. Shooting is such a fun hobby. If you get a chance go shoot at IDPA or at an IPSC practice meet and I bet you'll enjoy yourself.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." genoyamamoto 0 #3 October 4, 2005 thanks for the info. I actually looked into the IPSC. Have you ever done that? It seems like a great way to learn how to shoot safely and effectively. AggieDave 6 #4 October 4, 2005 I've shot IDPA, personally I wasn't a big fan of the IPSC stuff due to the "race guns." IDPA is just what it is, you bring basically a stock pistol and compete in your stock class, end of story. No .38 Supers with speed holsters and red-dot scopes. Just open sights with a stock weapon. Great real world shooting. Although a STI .38 Super with scope has been used in a self defense shooting in San Antonio before, its not your typical carry weapon.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." skycat 0 #5 October 4, 2005 I like the 9mm compact version, I have really small hands and this is the only one that fits really well. Derek's Glock 9mm is just to big and hurts my thumb when I fire it.Fly it like you stole it!
