Andrewwhyte 1 #2 September 29, 2005 Shortages only occur in areas of regulation. When the Soviet government regulated the price of bread people had to line up all day, now that capitalism has allowed the price to rise to reasonable levels there are no more shortages; the only problem is that some people cannot afford it. Economists call this exit from the market. Stupid bleeding heart liberals call it starvation.

We call killing 'killing' instead of 'cleansing.' We call it 'dying of starvation' instead of 'exit from the market.' We just can't get the hang of this Newspeak. rhino 0 #6 September 29, 2005 I think unavoidable fuel shortages will lead to food shortages..
kelpdiver 2 #7 September 30, 2005 hey, this will favor Americans. We can last years longer than most with our above average fat stores.
jumpinfarmer 0 #8 September 30, 2005 Don't look for it in the near future like next 10-15 years. However prices paid by consumers should start to rise. However if fuel prices stay where they are (I don't think they will come down) and crop prices stay in the tank where they are, I will be having a skydiving shortage next season.
