JohnRich 4 #2 September 23, 2005 I figured all along that getting the factions to live in peace was hopeless. My solution, and what may be coming in the long run, is to split Iraq into three separate states, one for each of the factions: the Shiites, Kurds and Sunnis. Then let 'em do their own thing within their own state. Of course, they'll still go beyond their own borders to murder the others. But who gives a shit anymore? Why do they hate each other anyway? I've never understood that. Amongst Christians, we don't see Protestant killing Baptists, or Lutherans killing Catholics. So why do these differing versions of Muslims all hate each other so much? Baptists ARE protestant, and plenty of Lutheran/RomanCatholic bloodshed occurred four hundred years ago.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one. masterblaster72 0 #4 September 23, 2005 Quotesplit Iraq into three separate states, one for each of the factions: the Shiites, Kurds and Sunnis. Probably would be a better solution than one unresful Iraq, but the Turks would have a sh.t fit if the Kurds got their own state. Considering they're a close ally of ours, I don't see a Kurdish state happening. Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.
SkyDekker 1,465 #5 September 23, 2005 Would have been nice if your president could have figured some of this out before he sent in the troops, killed a few thousand and smiled on the deck of a aircraft carrier telling the world the mission was accomplished..... They will resist a Kurdistan with all their military power. >Why do they hate each other anyway? I've never understood that. Why? Take the blind hatred shown here amongst people who have (often) never met. We've had death threats right here on this forum. Now add in ten thousand dead, each side losing people at the hands of the other. You think that might make things worse? A lot of people need someone to hate as much as they need someone to love. When killing is the accepted method of expressing that hate, that's what they do. >Amongst Christians, we don't see Protestant killing Baptists, or >Lutherans killing Catholics. I assume that's either a joke, or you neglected to add the word "lately."
