JohnRich 4 #2 September 14, 2005 It would be nice if you would provide a clue here as to what this thread is about, so that we don't have to go on a wild goose chase around the internet to find out.

Basically that we are at risk of beginning the slide towards an anti-science 'dark ages' where America becomes steadily more illiterate in the sciences. markd_nscr986 0 #4 September 14, 2005 Looks like a straight-forward unapologetic Republican bashing to me...........what a surprise! Perhaps he might enlighten us as to "The Point" of the threadMarc SCR 6046 SCS 3004
jakee 1,595 #5 September 15, 2005 While I agree with his basic premise (defend biology from morons) and I thought a couple of the jokes were funny ( I laughed at the 'inattentive' one, whatever, I'm going to hell anyway) I really can't stand that type of journalism. Its not opinion pieces in general that I hate but the ones that are focused on wildly bashing people rather than talking about a specific issue. I've mostly seen it from right wing commentators (only because those are more often posted here) but it sucks from the left as well. Feels like a kind of vicious cycle going on.Do you want to have an ideagasm?
FallRate 0 #6 September 15, 2005 This is excellent commentary. The current position of power that the Republicans enjoy is mostly a reaction to the unstable position that unchecked progressive policies have left us in. (This is an opportunity for the Democratic Party to re-evaluate their platform and policies.) If the Right/Republicans/Conservatives use this position not to remedy real problems but to push simple-minded objectives then the pendulum will certainly swing...err, fall back. And nothing will be accomplished, except that we will further divide ourselves by continuing to choose the lesser of two very serious evils. TheAnvil 0 #7 September 15, 2005 The NEA has been working hard to make that happen for years. I'm sure they and their sycophants are just dancing with joy at the prospect. Everon 0 #8 September 15, 2005 While there are some truly qualified teachers out there, I realize there are many lousy ones as well. Some downright lousy. I was an instructor at the university for a year satisfying my graduate requirements and learned to be good at it. In the public tutoring room, I tutored many el-ed teachers and was appalled. I'd have to say I agree with your statement.
