I once dumped a guy becasue we had religious differences...he thought he was God and I disagreed;):P

But seriously, sparing you my twisted religious beliefs, I won't discount the belief that God created life. It is a fact, however, that creatures today are not the same as they were many years ago. Did God create them then and they evolved-and if so, does that make today's being any less created by God- or did he create them yesterday or another arbitrary day? You can't plant a flower and get a dog, even after many centuries. (Some of us can plant a flower and not even get a flowerB|)
Life is not fair and there are no guarantees...

It's like a lot of other things. Believe in a flat world if you like - as long as you're not a commercial pilot or a sea captain. Believe in creationism if you like - as long as you're not a paleontologist, biologist, historian or doctor.

Or a voter...

I really hate uninformed idiots that vote
illegible usually

Not in the least will it be shaken....God's plan will be carried out regardless.

As for 2008, I am emphatic that the Bible is emphatic that Bush will never finish his second term, and when he goes, the nation known as the USA goes too.

Hi Bill,

as you know, I'm not convinced a bit but, highly interested. Don't you think it needs more proof for your statements than just a reference to your (personal King James) bible?

Why does he need more proof? Whatever he believes (as long as it doesn't require he kill people or torture small animals or something) is fine. And if the world doesn't end soon, he can believe something else.

or a teacher...

No problem in believing in creationism if you're a teacher, as long as you teach the curriculum. Some English teachers don't much like Dickens, but if it's required, they still teach it.

Agreed.

Agreed also. (((But despite that, the NEA would rather they be indoctrinated in their brand of 'faith/politics' anyway)))

That's true for all the above. No problem believing the earth is flat, either - as long as when you fly you assume that latitude and longitude are coordinates on a globe. I would find it hard to reconcile the two, but everyone is different.

The King James Bible IS the definitive WORD of God

His original word was in English? Ah, I'm missing something here...

Yes, don't you get it? No one got it right until English came along. Everyone else was wrong..mostly because they could not understand what God was saying in English. What with them speaking Herbrew or Aramaic or whatever.

So essentially, everyone following a Bible BEFORE KJ has gone to Hell because they were following the wrong word.

Even though it did not exist and no one told them otherwise. :S

Sorry, lets get back to the evolution arguement instead of a Bible arguement...that is what windcatcher's thread is for!
Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Yes Scooby....you sure ARE missing something !!!

The original manuscripts were written in Hebrew, and Greek, by more than 40 different writers over a 1500 year period.

God directed those original writings to come together under the auspices of King james in 1607, and four years later, the first printing of those writings as the WORD of God was printed.

It amazes me, that even those who comment on the works of the men God appointed to write His WORD, cannot understand that God is so omnipotent, that He could do this.

The GOD of all time, who owns ALL time, and created everything mankind has ever seen, including the galaxies, the sun, the moon, surely wouldn't find directing His chosen servants to write as He wanted, and then follow through with bringing those writings from various places, to come together at a certain location at a certain time.

That may prove a difficult job for man, but with God , ALL things are possible.

For those who think God couldnt do that....they really don't know God.

So:

The Old Testament in original Hebrew: not the word of God
The original Gospel according to Matthew: not the word of God
Greek translations of the Bible: not the word of God
First King James translation of the Bible: the word of God
Second King James translation of the Bible: not the word of God any more
New International translation, English Standard translation, translations into any other language - not the word of God

Is that a fair summary?

How lucky then that we, who are speaking a variant of a language brought to England by the Angle, Saxon, and Jute tribes (from Germany, Denmark and Holland respectively) are the only ones natively equipped to understand the word of God! All those lesser languages must be hatin life.

Those aren't the word of God. Have you read them? They're unintelligible! It's almost like they couldn't speak english.

D'oh! My mistake!:| Because, as we all know, if it's not written in English after being re-interpreted and re-translated 50 times over, it doesn't count!
