tcnelson 1 #3 September 9, 2005 here's a thought...what if it's both!! what if humans were created and we also evolve? could it be that some grand creator could have designed the human organism to evolve during its run? or, what if some god created the universe by using the big bang? wow, my head hurts..."Don't talk to me like that assface...I don't work for you yet." - Fletch NBFT, Deseoso Rodriguez RB#1329

Shotgun 1 #8 September 9, 2005 My theory is that the "aliens" that people have seen (like this one) are really humans who have traveled back in time from the future... because I think that is what we will evolve into - genderless, hairless things with big heads (to accommodate the larger brains). I don't see how taking care of the sick and infirm would keep humans, as a species, from evolving.(???) And since I was just informed that my huge manatee link doesn't work (it works for me!), I'll just post the pic. billvon 3,107 #14 September 10, 2005 >we stopped evolving as soon as we started taking care of our sick and infirm... Nonsense! We just started evolving in different directions. We once evolved to use food efficiently; now someone who can eat a box of Twinkies a day and not use the calories will do better than someone who has an efficient metabolism. We once evolved to store fat for lean times; now someone who is incapable of creating a lot of fat will live longer (and have a slightly better chance to reproduce) than someone who can create 350 pounds of fat. Heck, having a legal but not debilitating physical handicap gets you all sorts of benefits nowadays; if the legal advantages outweigh the physical disadvantages (at least in terms of reproductive odds) we'll start evolving club feet or whatever. You can't stop natural selection, but the "ideal organism" changes with the times. Civilization has produced drastic changes in what 'ideal' means. chuteless 1 #17 September 10, 2005 evolution is the lack of wisdom shown by those who cant come to grips with the reality of creation and God's Divine arrangement. Since they don't understand God, they design one of their own to conform with worldly thinking. Humans are often trying to REPLACE God with something they can see, like a shiny car, a game of golf or other sports...even the sports personalities. Bill Cole . I have always felt for instance that the evolutionary processes people 'claim' created the eye are so simplistic compared to 'God made it'.Do you want to have an ideagasm? billvon 3,107 #20 September 10, 2005 >evolution is the lack of wisdom shown by those who cant come to grips >with the reality of creation and God's Divine arrangement. Believe whatever you want. But if you ever go to a doctor and he doesn't believe in evolution, find one who does. Not believing bacteria can evolve resistance to antibiotics can lead to all sorts of bad things, both for the patient and for the population at large. It's like a lot of other things. Believe in a flat world if you like - as long as you're not a commercial pilot or a sea captain. Believe in creationism if you like - as long as you're not a paleontologist, biologist, historian or doctor.

Everon 0 #22 September 10, 2005 I could not have explained it more precisely than you just did. But the mythology huggers will never accept it, as you know. Evolution does not imply "ever improving," as the holier than thou always insist with absolute ignorance on the subject. I love their "eye" theories. It is amongst my favorites. If they would ever decide to do a little research on how the eye in animal life evolved, they of course would call that bullshit too. "A flower blooms in the direction of the sun?" Hmm. I am a trainer of standardbred racehorses. This breed has had a tremendous refinement in its short existense - much more speed, more stamina, and bone refinement in the classical sense in such a short period of time. The reason? Breed the best to the best, hope for the best, and cull the others (don't breed them). I find it odd that such a breed could improve its capabilities so rapidly without invoking evolution.
