TVPB 0 #51 September 6, 2005 Quotemilitary people ASSUME and TRUST that the leadership is operating based on superior knowledge. That's a given. The amount of $$ spent on recon and intel is HHHHUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGEEEEEEE. No one man could gather or interpret ALL that knowledge alone. But I don't question that they make decisions based on superior knowledge, I question the underlying intent of the actual decision. I have seen good intent, and a whole lot of bad too. Realit is that 99.99% of society will look after their own arse (ass). The other 0.01 win nobel peace prizes. Stay Safe - Have Fun - Good Luck The above could be crap, thought provoking, useful, or . . But not personal. You decide.
RhondaLea 4 #52 September 6, 2005 QuoteI dont wont to offened you but still no where in my first post did i mention babys or troops. Now it's semantics? You said: thank god my tax dollars are going into killing women and childern in iraq 100 of billions of dollars of it You also said: I support the troops but not what you do. How does that work you tell me?when the troups do the killing. I'm not going to argue with you about the specific words you used. If you want to retract what you said and apologize to the military personnel you insulted and attempted--but failed--to degrade, it would be welcome. I will not engage in a protracted argument about whether "children" includes "babies," and you clearly indicted as killers of women and children the soldiers who are honoring their vow to defend and protect. Quoterondalea get off the fence, what do you support? You spelled my name wrong. I support wholeheartedly the men who serve. I've already said I have real problems with the way this war is being fought. Wars should fought as quickly and as cleanly as possible, without all this pussyfooting around. So what fence, exactly, am I sitting on? We're not going to put an end to war tomorrow, so we may as well start fighting the wars we're involved in as if we intend to win them. QuoteJust in case you have forgotten or have not seen look at this web site. www.awitness.org/journal/real_iraq_war.html As I said in the other thread where you posted this link, you do not trick others into looking at carnage without warning. Apart from the horror value of the pictures, the website has nothing to recommend it on a factual level. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. RhondaLea 4 #54 September 6, 2005 Quote here is a forum site where you can go check out the troops glory shots and tell them what a good job they are doing. This is how wars start, o pacifistic one. You have made clear through subsequent postings that you blame the soldiers for doing their jobs. I think I said earlier that there are sociopaths in all parts of society. If you wish to blame all soldiers for the sins of the few, then you will have to take responsibility for the sociopaths running loose in civilian life. By your logic, you are no better than they are, and their acts reflect on you. This is how wars start...if you want to put an end to war, you need to realize that it begins with individuals, not with groups, not with governments. But as long as you believe it is okay to go around taking potshots at others, there will continue to be wars. Sometimes all it takes to stop a bloody conflict is a simple apology for the first transgression, along with the sincere promise not to do it again. It's remarkable how few understand this. It is even more remarkable that when it comes down to choices, even those who understand it will choose to cling to their "right" to be offensive. Quotesupport your troops I do. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. Gullah Proverb

However, I think Clinton is equally to blame as Bush Sr. for the mess. Bush left the people, Clinton didn't do anything more when he came into office. They both fucked up the situation really bad. Desert Storm was the answer to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait (and the fear that Iraq would then move into Saudi Arabia). When the stated goal of the coalition was met, the participants returned to their respective homes...in Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Canada, Czechoslovakia, Denmark, Egypt, France, Greece, Hungary, Honduras, Italy, Kuwait, Morocco, The Netherlands, Niger, Norway, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, South Korea, Spain, Syria, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States. (The Japanese and Germans sent money, not soldiers.) I agree it would have been better to clean out the viper's nest at the time, but the coalition refused to back such a move, and the US elected not to go forward without its support. rlIf you don't know where you're going, you should know where you came from. ViperPilot 0 #60 September 8, 2005 Very true. The US did do what it said it would do. However, I was just saying that they should have just gotten Saddam then. Saddam and Bin Laden would have been long gone by now if Bush Sr. and Clinton had done the right thing.
