What to do about Cindy Sheehan

Recommended Posts

I know most of you have heard her name on the news. What does everyone think about this woman and do you think she is disgracing the sacrifice that her son made or not. I want to hear opinions here people.

By the way if you don't know who she is go to www.foxnews.com and do a search on her name.

What to do? First, get a mod to move this to Speaker's corner... we can't clutter this place up with serious news-related stuff or there won't be enough room for the boobie pics. :|

you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk?

i know this should not be in this section and moved however i do feel the need to comment...

yes you are right she has the right to bitch and complain - it is one of the many great advantages we have in this country -

however i think she somehow forgot that her son volunteered knowing that his life was on the line... i don't care what anyone says, the second you sign your name on the dotted line you are giving your life to your country willingly.. it was a risk he chose to take and he did so honorably.. she doesnt have to like that he did it and i know there are many parents out there that don't like the fact that their child is putting their lives on the line... but they're still supporting their children because its something they believe in...

i don't know - i do not agree with what she is doing i think its pretty degrading not only to her son, but to all of the other soldiers and their parents... but as an american its her right

Not that I'm against the war or anything, but some people have a problem with their children being sent off to some conflict without an official Declaration of War by Congress... After what happened in Vietnam, well you get the idea...

I like the loaded question, especially the "look her name up on FOX NEWS," that was the best part.

What to do about her? Let her be an American and let her express her opinion. Her son is dead. That's her take on her son's death, that he died for an unworthy cause, and that she doesn't want other mothers to feel her pain.

Going to tell a mother to shut up about her dead son, label her a terrorist/hippy/communist, tell her to wave a flag instead, not to ask questions, be a patriot and listen to what Fox news is saying about her? Her son just died for a cause has been questionable from the start.

The question is what will we do about our President, who is on a five-week vacation, who took a swim right after giving a speech the other day about "sacrifice." The word you use "disgrace" comes to mind when I think of him, not Cindy Sheehan.

Bush never went to a soldier's funeral. Or a military hospital. He's cut veteran's benefits. And I won't get into his record as a soldier.

How about this for support for our troops: ARM THEM TO THE TEETH. GET THEM BETTER EQUIPMENT AND ARMOR. The billions (your money and mine) spent on this war aren't arming our troops. The money isn't even rebuilding Iraq. Think everything is going as planned, that the prez is running things as well as they can be run?

Being American is having an opinion. The founding fathers had an opinion. I support the troops -- my take is make it our #1 priority to protect them, and we're not doing that. And let Cindy Sheehan be the American she is being. No one is out to disgrace troops -- we all care about them. Those who think the cause is so noble should stop pointing fingers and instead go to Iraq and point guns at insurgents.

Be humble, ask questions, listen, learn, follow the golden rule, talk when necessary, and know when to shut the fuck up.

i'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with the "we all care about them" comment... i'm not saying that you don't care about them but there are a lot of people that don't give a shit at all.. and the ones who DO think it is a noble cause ARE there pointing guns at insurgents...

many who complain too are NOT the ones that have their children fighting the war...

Incorrect. He made a speech at Walter Reed Army Medical Center www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/01/20030117-8.html announcing his support for veterans on the SAME DAY his administration acted to cut benefits to veterans (see www.vfw.org/index.cfm?fa=news.newsDtl&did=1576)

You should work for the media... the article you linked does not say one word about cutting benifits. If fact it said there is an increase in funding, just not in the amount the VFW would like to see... I agree that it is not as large an increase as it should be, because vnetrans healthcare sucks and has for a long long time, but a $500MM increase is not a cut...
